| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Save This Lady Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
to me right now part of this song seems to be saying that there must be a reason for things happening the way that they are, he just cant see it yet. hence the "boy named sue" johnny cash reference. if you know the song, then you know that the boy named sue doesnt understand anything about his name until his dad named him that right before leaving his family, and to make sure that his son grew up strong, he gave him the name sue and forced him to grow strong throughout his life of torment. its all just saying, ""i dont know why i cant find that one person that i truly want to share everything with and stay with forever, but maybe there is a reason for it that i do not yet see. i have faith that itll happen, but its still damn frustrating"" |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Fortune Faded Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think this is about overcoming an addiction, drugs, alcohol, etc...just depends on your poison. its saying that its overrated and that you dont really have to live with it and that it is not necessary to your life, even though it might seem like it. it can also be something that is an expensive habit, and it takes up all your money, i.e.-fortune faded, it goes away. you are left with no money, the high eventually leaves you, and you are left with nothing to show for it. again, reiterating the overrated lyrical part of the song. | |
| The White Stripes – You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song is about a person in general who is a pushover in a relationship. its not even so much that they are a pushover in the sense that they dont do anything, but just that they only do what they are told to do. they are not fully aware of a true loving relationship, so they think that they are in love, and because they are in love they will do whatever the other person asks them to do, just because they think that they are doing it all in the name of love. | |
| Kid Rock – Black Chick, White Guy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
redneck4life16- yeah you have the right to think whatever you want, thats the beauty of this country...but where do you get off saying something like that?! theres too many other things in life to worry about than the color of someones skin. Life is too short to be so superficial...you should love the person for who they are, not what they look like on the outside. and to clarify, i am white (despite my screen name) |

| Ozzy Osbourne – I Just Want You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i will agree that the 'no believable gods' part always did bother me too, and the lennon's daughter part is also confusing. i would also agree that this song was written about sharon. however, i would also say that to other ppl it can be sending a message of 'all of these things could be done, they would bring great satisfaction or great status, etc. but nothing that would come from accomplishing any of the things he listed would matter if he didnt have that one girl in his life. he doesnt want all of the things he listed, he just wants "you."' its a very romantic song, and i would have to say prolly one of my fav ozzy songs. |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Castles Made of Sand (Jimi Hendrix cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i think it just means that life doesnt always turn out the way that you expect it to...for example when you are a little kid at the beach, you make a castle in the sand...you dont expect it to get destroyed, but then the tide comes in, and it is destroyed... in the three verses, something happened that was unexpected and unwanted...a couple breaks up because of alcohol abuse...a little boy does not get to grow up to be what he wants to be...and a girl wanted a better life... no one expects tragedies to happen, but they do happen, everyone has a castle in the sand, and one day it will be destroyed... |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Don't Forget Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i feel pain whenever i hear this song. I think it is just about a guy who is no longer with his girlfriend and he doesn't want the memories to go away. There may have been pain in the relationship, and they may never be able to be with each other again, but he still wants the memories to remain. | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – C'mon Girl Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i agree with rhcp24...Anthony has been in and out of relationships since he was 12 or so, and they have not lasted very long. But he wants this one relationship to be different and special...he wants it to work and he wants it to last. | |
| HIM – Right Here In My Arms Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i just watched the music video for this song and the lyrics started to make a lot more sense to me. It shows the band playing in a glass box made of two way mirrors so that no one can see out, but anyone on the outside can look in. There is a girl outside looking in at the lead singer, and he is at the glass looking blindly out, he moves around the box and she follows him outside trying to get his attention, but that is impossible. I think this is talking about the perfect girl that a man wants to be in his arms (representing ownership and possession) and she is right in front of him, but he ignores her and passes her off as not the right one. She wants him, and he wants what she is, he just doesn't realize that she is the embodiment of what he wants. She eventually gives up at the end of the song and turns off the lights and leaves. The guy ends up losing his perfect girl that he dreams of holding in his arms all because he fails to see her in his life before she gives up trying to get his attention. I see this all as poetic, sad, and realistically lifelike. | |
| Mötley Crüe – If I Die Tomorrow Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i just watched the video for this song...also, i just read all of these posts and remember something about how Vince said that this was not a love song, but a song about the relationship of all of the members of the band [original]...with this in mind, the band has been through many changes and hardships since the beginning, changing members at some points, and even breaking up for a while. The lyrics are talking about how they really feel about each other, that they are close and that they all mean the world to the rest of the band, and that it took everyone else abandoning each other and them fucking up their own lives to be able to see this. Points in case: Vince: drove drunk, almost (should have) died Nikki: in the hospital because of drugs, should have died, but he didn't Tommy: went to jail after his breakup with Pamela Anderson Mick: almost died from heroin use but here's the thing, they didn't die when they should have (with the exception of Tommy, and that part does confuse me) and then they realized that there are some things that they should have told each other all along, but it took life changing events in each of their lives for them to be able to come to this realization. In a sense, Vince said that this was not a love song, but i think it is a love song in way, because there has to be some type of mutual love between them after all of these years. The song, i believe, is simply stating that "this is what i want you to know if next time i am not so lucky and i don't make it out alive, now i can die in peace." |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Hump de Bump Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think that this song has two do with two people (guy and girls) trying to get away from everyone else to Hump De Bump. "40 dectives this week 40 dectives strong Takin' a stroll down Love Street Strollin' is that so wrong Can I get my co-defendant" I think that the 40 detectives represents everyone watching what the couple does, when all they are trying to do is "stroll down Love street." "Livin' in a citadel It's hard enough to be yourself Waiting for the bell to toll And I am wide awake now" this part means that they live in a closely monitered area where they can't get away and they can't be themselves (flirty, sexy, horny). But then the opportunity comes along to get away, and they are "wide awake now," or ready to get it on. "Must have been a hundred miles And of a hundred styles It's not about the smile you wear But the way we make out" The hundred miles is a metaphor for a long period of time and many different ways that they have tried to get away. and it is not about how you look, but how how you love. |

| Powerman 5000 – Tonight The Stars Revolt! Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think that this song is talking about the power of persuasion. The "Stars" (famous people from hollywood) control the minds of young children and even adults everywhere. When someone like Tom Cruise says that he beleives in scientology, some people become scientologists just because they want to be like Tom Cruise. Even though scientology is completely fucked up. Anyways, When the stars revolt, or give their opinion on something, the mass majority of retarded Americans will follow them. But the thing is, is that the stars do not control themselves. They are controlled by music reps. and CEO's of music companies as well as whatever label they are signed with. So if the powerfull people controlling the stars want something changed or said, they use the stars to revolt and get what they want. "they're only doing what they're told." When the stars revolt, people follow, and the people controlling the star's revolt get what they want. | |
| Pearl Jam – Better Man Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| to me, this song is about settling for something when you really want more. She can't find a better man to marry, so she stays with the one that she's with now. She dreams about finding someone els, but it never happens, so she lies and says she's in love with him. In my opinion, when she says that no one else needs to know, it could mean that no one else needs to know that she does not really love her husband. Just my opinion. | |
| Candlebox – He Calls Home Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This song talks about a homeless man that lead singer Kevin Martin saw all the time in his home town. You never know how life is going to turn out or what it will throw your way. The song also contains some of the questions and thoughts that Kevin had about the man. I heard this from Kevin in an interview on my local rock station a couple of months ago. | |
| Nightwish – Angels Fall First Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I believe that this song tells of how it seems that the people that we need on this world (the angels) die before it seems to be their time. People who ruin and destroy the earth or commit crimes and in general harm the inhabitants of earth always seem to stay around. There is a neverending supply of evildoers, while all of the angels leave earth before their work is finished. | |
