| Jack's Mannequin – Hammers And Strings (A Lullaby) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Amazing. Inspirational. If you put it into context with the meaning of Konstantine it truly is beautiful. With all the feelings and emotion put into that girl, that she will always be in his life and vice versa. Then you get this song, which years have gone by and they don't talk much anymore, both gone different paths in life, but they still think about each other from time to time. They can't be with each other, especially now with Andrew being married, but the music still brings them together. She is having a troubled time and asks Andrew to help her through this with his songs. So he writes her this song. The first part is about the relationship they shared and the plea. The second part is showing her situation of depression and how she needs Andrew to help her through. The chorus is beautiful as it brings the insomnia of depression at night forward to the picture and he tries to remedy this with a 'lullaby' to put her and others in her place to sleep easier at night. At the very end of the song you can hear the static mix of what sounds like a girl talking outside of a coffee shop or something. What I can make out clearly is "I wish she could see the clouds" though there seems that there is more that is skewed in there with digital editing. I can't really give a meaning to it, but I know Andrew has a fascination with the sky and space/stars, but the reference to the clouds is new. I can't really put it as a referring to anything else and kinda strange that it's a female voice saying it, but maybe it's referring to her hoping she'd keep her head up in troubled times. |

| Jason Mraz – Coyotes Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Actually, neither of you have verse two right. It's actually: I wish the wild was alive like you. I wish the wind would blow me through, Another opportunity to approach you, Another telepathic rendezvous. I wish you well with your weapons of jargon, You got a double-sided lexicon. I gotta try to your attention, Gotta write using less emoticons. Gotta figure out the snooze alarm, I wanna lay in your place till dawn, I wanna play in the park, come on, Now let me see your other upper echelon. He actually sung part of it a while back during Song for a Friend and I'm stoked that he included it in his new album as they are some of my favorite lyrics by Mraz. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhdDE4ej8cM It's near the end. |

Songs about Masturbation ---well not really, but that's what they said at the concert. Really Stephen said it was about his younger brother getting dumped by his older girlfriend who just got in college. Something about losing virginity to that girl and how he thought there was no other girl. Guess it's Stephen's way of comforting his brother. |

| The Spill Canvas – The Tide Lyrics | 20 years ago |

This is what I get out of the song: And there's three, count 'em three children playing on the beach They were eager to learn, to be taught, and to teach *** The "three" is just a nice little rift, with no meaning. However, the learn, to be taught, and to teach has some meaning. In my opinion, those three actions describe a relationship or love. Learn and teach. It makes more sense later. *** There's Veronica She's biting her lip as she watches the waves turn white at the tip *** Veronica is anxiously waiting for whatever the wave(tide) represents. She's curious about it. Very good imagery. *** And there's Vada radiating with joy and luckily she still can't stand the sight of a boy *** Vada, younger, still doesn't care about love or a relationship. Hence why he says "luckily." She's still ignorantly blissful. *** And lastly there's Dade His hair dances in the wind and he's wondering what love is (love is) and why it has to end And he can't understand how everyone goes on breathing when true love ends *** Dade is depressed over something that he loved. *** His mother whispers quietly... Heaven's not a place that you go when you die It's that moment in life when you actually feel alive So live for the moment and take this advice, live by every word Love is just a hoax so forget anything that you have heard and live for the moment now *** His mother tells Dade, or her children, that heaven is a moment that you actually feel alive, relating to a cliche phrase "this is heaven." She tells them to forget the past and live for today, live by every word, live "for the moment". Then she tells them that love isn't real. You may think you love someone but you don't, so forget the past of loving that someone, and live for today. *** And there's three, count 'em three children growing on the beach They were eager to learn, to be taught, and to teach There's Veronica She's licking her lips as she waits for her real, first passionate kiss *** Veronica, now from biting she goes to licking, she's not curious anymore, she wants. She wants to have a boy, a relationship, or to be in love. *** And there's Vada She can't admit her jealousy of her sister Veronica, and how she's so pretty (and how she's so pretty) *** Vada grew up from the last stanza. Now, instead of luckily hating boys, she wants a boy. She notices the opposite sex and now wants to be pretty like her sister. (This could also say that before she didn't notice how she wasn't that attractive luckily and now she does, but that's slightly cynical). Lastly there's Dade Still sitting on the dock He ponders his life, and he skips his rocks And he wonders when his father will return but he's not coming back And he can't understand how everyone goes on breathing when true love ends *** You can either take this as Dade loved his father and now his father is gone or Dade is missing a fatherly figure in his life and wants him back and the first stanza he lost someone else he loved. *** His mother whispers quietly... Heaven's not a place that you go when you die It's that moment in life when you actually feel alive So live for the moment and take this advice, live by every word Love is just a hoax so forget everything that you have heard (forget everything) *** His mother's advice tells him to forget about their father and live for today. That love you felt wasn't real, etc etc. She doesn't want her children to love. And there's three, count 'em three children missing from the beach They were eager to learn, to be taught, and to teach But the sad thing is that they never lived passed the age of fifteen due to neglect from their mother who was bed ridden by her ex-lover, their father *** Here's the connection. They "died" because their mother ignored their needs and wants. They wanted love, but she said it was a hoax. She said this because she was still living in the past because of their father who left her. She hates love and wants her children to hate love. *** And she didn't even notice or pay much attention as the tide came in and swept her three into the ocean Now all her advice, it seems useless *** The tide represents change. She didn't notice her children were changing as they grew older. Instead of looking at the ocean and wanting to change, they are now swept into life and more then likely fell in love. Her advice about living for the moment and love isn't real is useless to them now--by the age of 15. No, heaven's not a place that you go when you die It's that moment in life when you touch her and you feel alive So live for the moment and take this advice, live by every word Love's completely real, so forget anything that you've heard and live for the moment now *** Heaven is when you "touch her" which is more then likely another girl, and you feel alive, or in love. Heaven is when you are with someone you love and it's that great. This isn't their mother saying it, it's really the narrator of the song saying "love is completely real so forget anything you have learned." They found out that love is heaven on their own accounts and not through their mother who took her own history and negatively rubbed it off on her children. *** Great song, good imagery, and great story. |
