Telling Me Goodbye Lyrics
On the morning of
A day I should love
And the start of the Spring
Now my day was snowed in
So I rushed you off the phone
How should I have known
It's the last I'll hear your voice
Telling me goodbye
Pulling a blanket up to cover everyone
All shut out, I was wrapped up in myself
And my guilt
Now I'm not holding on, but I can't let go
Wish my guilt could sit up on a shelf, by itself
While I'll rush you off the phone
How would I have known
It's the last I'll hear your voice
Telling me goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Never say goodbye
I never should have let you down
How am I going to let this go
Oh no
A day I should love
And the start of the Spring
Now my day was snowed in
How should I have known
It's the last I'll hear your voice
Telling me goodbye
All shut out, I was wrapped up in myself
And my guilt
Wish my guilt could sit up on a shelf, by itself
How would I have known
It's the last I'll hear your voice
Telling me goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
How am I going to let this go
Oh no

More I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business
But When The Little Fellow Came Close And Put Both Arms Around His Mother, And Kissed Her In An Appealing Boyish Fashion, She Was Moved To Tenderness
So I Finally Decided to Give Myself a Reason
The Best Happiness Money Can Buy
Stop Smoking Because It's Not Good For You

Maybe it's about his grandfather, I know Ace lost him right at the end of TEN's last tour, amidst the break-up of the band and everything maybe his life was hectic and he may have skipped out on talking or visiting his grandfather, and then he passed away before Ace got another chance to talk to him. This song seems to be about regret, so maybe it's regret for not getting to say goodbye to him. This is just a guess.
On the morning of While I'll rush you off the phone
The build up in this song is phenomenal.
Also, during the goodbyes.. this is what's repeated:
Never say goodbye..
I never should have let you down How am I going to let this go Oh no
fantastic end to a fantastic album
Thanks for the help, Boogyloh. Jordan, I totally agree. This whole album is so filled with emotion, it's just perfect.
Is this song about an actual person or is it more of a metaphor about losing something/someone? If it is really about an actual person, I wonder who that person is?
