this song is good, but its a tad over-rated i first heard it on the shampoo ad and didn't even realise who it was until i got the cd today some dude in a shop goes to me "you can't like the distillers and the transplants" i would like your opinions on that but i think "why fucking not?" brody even sings in some of their songs so theres no reason i cant like both bands and besides i like them for their music not for the people in the bands gay fag at music shop he was... so yeh good song anyway |

i think this song courtney wrote about herself. i think its about feeling fake which is why the song is called 'doll parts' and makes reference to dolls because they're not real. She also talks about fakeness in the line "I fake it so real, I am beyond fake" shutyourmouth is sort of on the right track with this dolls are porcelain or plastic- not flesh, not real i think the "most cake" could actually be in referrence to make up. as in "caking" on make up. make up is another way we fake ourselves. its a mask we hide behind. its not really what you look like. its not really what you are I think when she sings "yeah, they really want you...." shes sort of being sarcastic "they" of course being the public shes telling herself the public want her to be that way (be "fake") and they dont care about who she really is at all. i realise i was only four years old when this song was actually written//released but still thats just what i think it means... |
