I think the song is telling us to not get angry because it only leads to pain to yourself and others. You may cause so much pain you could end up in Hell. The song doesn't mention what the person is so angry about but it can be so many things. The person in the song is also so angry and obsessed with exacting vengeance he loses the one he loves. He wants her to forget the things he did but it's not easy to forgive and forget.
In the last part of the song where Julian says:
"Take all your fears, pretend they're all true
Take all your plans, pretend they fell through.
I think in short he is saying to hope for the best but prepare for the worst. For most people in the world that is the way we must live. |

I lovvvveee this song! Someone recommended this song on reddit under the topic of "Uplifting Songs." Now I can't stop listening to it and I can't remember the last time a song made me smile.
