wow, i just heard this song for the first time... not only is the song great, but the Woman King EP is such a strange blend of his earlier stuff and his latest album and should hold up a lot longer than even the full LPs he's released. |

I can't believe he kept this one off of the new LP and relegated it to a non-album B-Side single. It would have made all the fans of the old stuff so much happier - even though I love the new stuff. It's pretty much sounds like a plugged in version of something he might of made three years ago. |

i kind of know what you mean, mantooth - on carousel, the vocal effect adds something that might actually take away from the intended effect. i think, however, that the new sound enhances this song. i love the fuller sound; it really sounds like he had a good time layering instruments on quietly but numerously, like he has with his voice on previous tracks. |

tied as my favorite on Shepherd's Dog, next to Boy with a Coin and The Devil Never Sleeps. Just has a really easy quality to it that a lot of the new LP doesn't have. |
