Drive-By Truckers – The Righteous Path Lyrics 17 years ago
Two friends, same upbringing, and one isn't doing so well as the other. I imagine they spent some time in jail (or juvie) when they were young, and the guy who is singing has bettered his life. His friend "can't get it right, no matter how he tries".

Moby – Honey Lyrics 17 years ago
I always thought that the lyrics were

never gonna come back, sometimes
i wanna red paycheck, sometimes
gonna hop in the back, sometimes
i'm going over here, sometimes

R.E.M. – Find The River Lyrics 18 years ago
to me, it's the last part of a threefold.
Man on the Moon - Nightswimming - Find The River, perfect. Man on the Moon is about playing games, youth, school, college. The young man with his life ahead. Then comes nightswimming, the bitter old man who threw his life away and reflects upon his childhood and years of fun but no working on the future in college, getting addicted to all sorts of crap. Then comes this song, the man left with no reason to live. I think the river is his wild, rocky life, and the ocean is the immense pool of death, where the river becomes a fortune to the undertow. Nothing is going my way, but I screwed it up all by myself.
Awesome song

Bill Berry wrote this and a drum machine was used to rcord it (Not bass-player Mike MIlls, as suggested, but the drummer)

A mighty moving song

r.e.m. does like those songs, especially the last two. why else would they play them on tour almost eery night?

this song is usually played as the closer of the show, but the day after the elections bush won, it was played as opener.

The answer landed on my rooftop. Whoa.
The future and the truth on my rooftop. Whoa.
The future is calling me to work it out.
