| Saint Motel – Puzzle Pieces Lyrics

There is one really mistake in the lyrics. It's "lies" not "lines". Listen to the song. I know lines makes more sense right then. I think he's hiding behind the plastic surgery idea.
I don't think he's talking about plastic surgery literally. The surgery he refers to was performed on him (metaphorically) by the other person. The person tore him up and letting go/moving on felt like extraction (surgery) or, as he goes on to explain, letting go of addiction. He fights w the temptation to not move on (never right but you can't move on) despite knowing it's wrong. The metaphor of puzzle pieces that don't fit together is the result of the lies because they are so obvious to him. Like when words don't line up w actions.. Puzzle pieces that don't fit together.
This idea is strongly supported by the rest of the album.

fnordatpanix's idea is pretty abstract and fits the pattern and feel better than any of these other wayyy too specific interpretations. It works with both the first person perspective as well as the introspective second person.. ("I dragged you through the mud" is what I mean by introspective second person). Jabarhead seems close but I think it's also about creativity - as it relates to emotion and songwriting |

| The Pains of Being Pure at Heart – Heart in Your Heartbreak Lyrics

The praying part is obvious so I'm not going to get into that but...
And even if she'd stay you know it's wrong
'Cause even if she'd stay, you know she's gone
Means that you still like/love/lust (have feelings, whatever they may be) the girl but having been in a relationship with her (or having "had" her), you knew it was wrong. Likely because she wasn't emotionally there for one reason or another so the outcome of it not working out is inevitable ("you know she's gone")... Question: Why would you still "have feelings"? Answer: Cause she was the best you'd ever had... and the song captures the idea of being hung up on her for a very very long time.

Why would it matter if it was Scarlett Jo, Paris H, or any other hot celeb... the song is about watching that person go on and become famous and literally outgrow her boyfriend. Jack writes about trying to accept that shes gone and trying to make himself believe that there is, in fact, a better love for each of them out there. Its almost like he tries to convince himself it will be okay. |

thank god someone actually analyzed the song... I dont know if I think DrinkupGorgeous is right, but most of her interpretation seems to make sense. I wish someone could back up the argument that the song is about Max's mother with some type of lyrical proof. I just hate everyone who has the need to tell everyone else that they absolutely love this song. |

fuck you pink elmo, the is a songmeaning website,
that line where he says Till I grow older, but feel me inside of you
Like you want it to
isn't that referring to sex, if not, what else could it be talkin about... it doesn't seem to go with the "child like" idea of the lyrics... i think that possibly the song is about selfishness, its more about wanting all types of emotions from, sex to respect to anything that makes you feel good. ITS ABOUT GREED |

This song is about the singer feeling like he knows that it is best for a girl that he lost to be with him, and not with anyone else. That is why he talks about knowing where we go when we die, trying to comprehend her (like trying to understand why she chose not to be with him), and he says i cant watch her burn, or in other words... i cant watch her make the wrong decision. Im fairly certain that that is right... i would love for someone to actually post an interpretation and not just say how cool Count the stars is and how they are soon coming to my town!! |

musicmaniac is right. Go to mos def, common, kanye, talib kweli and you will find plenty of comments cause they like to rap about things such as life experiences and such (conscience rap) . TI is too fucking stupid to write anything meaningful. So he just shouts. Nonetheless, i can bitch here all i want, but your all entitled to your opinions |

hey, it just might be mean, but when i listen to the song, i almost think it's about rape. When he says "dance with me" in the chorus, and "stretch out your legs", i just get the idea that he is talking about doing a chick, and then how he repeats "it's allright" so many times kinda gives me the creeps. If somebody has some legitmate arguement against me I would love to hear it. Does anyone else think this? or am i being stupid. Regardless, the song is great, and I listen to it all a lot, but i just wanted to post the question. |
