Why would it matter if it was Scarlett Jo, Paris H, or any other hot celeb... the song is about watching that person go on and become famous and literally outgrow her boyfriend. Jack writes about trying to accept that shes gone and trying to make himself believe that there is, in fact, a better love for each of them out there. Its almost like he tries to convince himself it will be okay.
greeeat song...it sounds like he's saying "scars me in vain", but I'm not entirely sure. you might want to listen to that bit again and make sure ^_^
One of my favourite ST songs.
This song is about Scarlett Johanson, the famous hollywood actress (Lost in Translation is probably her most successful movie.) She was Jack Antonoff's (singer of Steel Train) girlfriend, but they broke up.
It's quite obvious with certain lines such as:
"This girl, she had it kinda sweet Till fame swept her off her feet"
"Hey Scarlet, you're not the same"
"So I flew West to see her part Two weeks since the music died I watch the camera shoot this girl"
and finally referring back to her leaving Jack(or vice versa, I'm not sure of the details of their breakup)
"Jack, I'm leaving now"

lol i don't really like sacarlett johanson either. it's a cute song though still. just loses some meaning when it's about some heirress. she reminds me of paris. i guess thats why it screws up the metnal image

This song kind of makes me not like Scarlet.. I love the song though, don't get me wrong. It's about how she changed in the Hollywood scene and consequently Jack and her grew apart.
