This strikes me as the flip-side of "Ordinary" and its acceptance of life in the face of death. Someone important is gone, and the singer's finally allowed the finality and unfairness of it all to catch up to him. This is such a great song to blast in the car when you're feeling frustrated.... |

For a long time I thought "murder" in regards to this song. The line about "making a perfect likeness" of the body by tracing always reminded me of the chalk outlines at crime scenes. Although, looking at it now, domestic abuse does seem to be more in line with the rest of the lyrics. |
