Who Cares? Lyrics
I'm amazed at the state of misery,
Seven grades and they plead for your sympathy,
I watched the end of a friend and a family,
It's a dream, it's a trick, it's a tragedy
So the story goes, just like the eulogy,
I put my rage in a page and it speaks through me,
Something changed and the game doesn't matter now,
It doesn't matter now
All the days before you die,
This time I see it now I know
Don't ask when and don't ask why,
Where can I tell the truth before I go
CHORUS:
And you said,
I'm gonna lose it
I think I'll break everything and start again,
It is my life I see no end
So take it out on the streets and the avenues,
Play it loud like you always wanted to,
Turn it up, turn it out, can't you let it go,
Leave your keys, see the smoke on the stereo
All the days before you die,
This time I see it now I know,
Don't ask when and don't ask why,
Where can I tell the truth before I go
CHORUS
I see my life in clips and phrases,
Picture shows and written pages,
Where does the widow go from here,
Where can I steal a day before I'm gone
CHORUS
Seven grades and they plead for your sympathy,
I watched the end of a friend and a family,
It's a dream, it's a trick, it's a tragedy
So the story goes, just like the eulogy,
I put my rage in a page and it speaks through me,
Something changed and the game doesn't matter now,
It doesn't matter now
This time I see it now I know
Don't ask when and don't ask why,
Where can I tell the truth before I go
And you said,
I'm gonna lose it
I think I'll break everything and start again,
It is my life I see no end
Play it loud like you always wanted to,
Turn it up, turn it out, can't you let it go,
Leave your keys, see the smoke on the stereo
This time I see it now I know,
Don't ask when and don't ask why,
Where can I tell the truth before I go
Picture shows and written pages,
Where does the widow go from here,
Where can I steal a day before I'm gone

This strikes me as the flip-side of "Ordinary" and its acceptance of life in the face of death. Someone important is gone, and the singer's finally allowed the finality and unfairness of it all to catch up to him. This is such a great song to blast in the car when you're feeling frustrated....
