No doubt this is about a break up. Rise against have one of the best screamers i have ever heard as a singer. and i hear A LOT of screamers, because of my metal music addiction. the screaming near the end is so good in my opinion because the singer just sounds so damn pissed off! I reckon its about a people trying to push you around and make you do things you dont want to do, hence the line: 'give me one second to breathe'
and the line 'smash your grip on control' means "stop trying to control me" |

WOAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..........I'm into crazy metal music and when i heard davey FREAK OUT in this song the screaming was TOTALY AWSOME TO MY EARS! I dont really get the middle bit with the piano and the strange voices. And to Prove how awsome AFI is as a band, I hate quiet songs (why I listen to metal), but I LOVE this time Imperfect! |
