i agree with solarflair - this song perfectly describes the feeling of nostalgia and living in a city and that feeling of missing a place that you can't even call home anymore. i often feel like i'm always looking forward to the next thing that i don't even take time to appreciate the good things why they're happening to me. because of this life passes me by - and by the time i realize this it's just a series of memories. i know where i want to be and i have goals but i'm "just not there". he captures this so accurately not just in the words but the rhythm of the song.
i can see the vividness of being in a cab and speeding past all the lights and wondering where the time is gone and how i've gotten here so fast.
meaning aside, this song is beautiful. aside from driving in the car, dancing, or working out, i hardly ever listen to rap. but there is a deeper meaning in this song, and it reminds of the music i really listen to in order to feel some emotion. kanye is really saying something in this song. i love kanye’s regular stuff --but he really goes above and beyond with this one. good work, yeezy.

the great thing about this song is that even though it's obviously about being lost in drugs, you can listen to it and relate even if that isn't your situation.

this is my all time favorite song. i think it's about a relationship. even if we never really know if it's between friends or lovers, one of them moved on, emotionally and physically probably. and he is saying that after all of what is going on he finally gets it. i'm not sure i understand the part about D.C., but i guess that's what makes it music--we all have our own meanings and associations for it. |

well, i don't know much about elliott smith. and i understand he was a drug user. but i do know that this is a beautiful song, and it's a love song, regardless of the circumstances. i also know that twilight is that time of day where it turns from dark to light. maybe that's all that is important here, that something is changing, and that he makes a realization? like, that two people are involved but are already taken, whether it be with durgs or other people. I'm not sure, but i think that its a gorgeous song. |

i think this song is about a girl who is talking to someone she loves alot, whether its a lover or not and they're going somewhere. she doesn't want that person to go, but they have to move on both physically and emotionally. the maps are maybe symbolic of both the distance the person is going and the new direction their life is taking. |
