as far as i know, this song is about a young man ,barely 20, going off to Vietnam. but it could of course apply to most of the key wars in history. this song is beautiful. it is very emotional song. the lyrics are very poetic that almost made me cry. |

The first couple of lines, to me, talk about drugs. almost like the injecting of heroine. "smiled and gazed all over my arm" "she hasn't time just to be with me" - she doesn't like to be there when he isn't himself. "her face between all she means to be" - to me, this sorta means that she does it too. shes not quite her self. thats all of got for now folks. |

This song is mostly about Syd. He did use drugs excessively during the 1960's, which brought on schizophrenia. This made him almost impossible to work with. At live shows, he simply either wouldnt play, or would play a completely different song. Thats when the Pink Floyd decided to one day not pick him up. This is when they brought in David Gilmour. eventually Syd left for good and made two solo albums before becoming in many ways a "recluse", living in his mothers house in Cambridge. He died in July of this year. The song is also about the music industry, how the managers only want money, so much to the point as they dont actually know anything about the band. Now, this is obviously about "a long-legged guitar picker", who goes on tour and leaves his "woman" at home. he says he won't cheat on her, but is tempted by a redhead. She truns out to be Frankie's sister who was checking that Johnny wasnt doing frankie wrong. GREAT SONG : P |
