| Metric – Artificial Nocturne Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| first listen to the album stream and i couldn't get past putting this song on repeat at least 5 times before moving on. musically and lyrically this song is fantastic. so glad this was the first track for synthetica. it got me excited for the whole album the way "empty" did for live it out. | |
| Tyler, the Creator – Yonkers Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
When will misogynistic and homophobic ranting and raving result in meaningful repercussions in the entertainment industry? When will they be treated with the same seriousness as racist and anti-Semitic offenses? While an artist who can barely get a sentence fragment out without using homophobic slurs is celebrated on the cover of every magazine, blog and newspaper, I’m disheartened that any self-respecting human being could stand in support with a message so vile. As journalists and colleagues defend, excuse and congratulate ‘Tyler, the Creator,’ I find it impossible not to comment. In any other industry would I be expected to tolerate, overlook and find deeper meaning in this kid’s sickening rhetoric? Why should I care about this music or its â€brillianceâ€ when the message is so repulsive and irresponsible? There is much that upsets me in this world, and this certainly isn’t the first time I’ve drafted an open letter or complaint, but in the past I’ve found an opinion — some like-minded commentary — that let me rest assured that my outrage, my voice, had been accounted for. Not this time. read more: http://teganandsara.com/ the whole reason for my visit to these lyrics was because of reading this open letter written by sara quin. gotta say, after watching the video for this and reading the lyrics, i'm going to agree with sara. this guy is disgusting and i hope he gets help. |

this song is one of my favorites on this album. the only correction to make here that i can obviously pick out is the title. it should be "werewolf heart." |

it shocks me that this song doesn't have more comments than it does! this song is so beautiful. the lyrics are just as gorgeous as the melody. it was a first favorite from annie. not sure if "put a pearl in the ground" has any meaning but what it's always meant/represented for me in my personal interpretation was the idea of putting something pure and good into the soil and hoping it'll grow. |

| Mirah – Archipelago Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| it's so shocking this song does not have that many comments! the lyrics are simple and listening to the song is everything. it's really, really beautiful. there's a lot of emotion. what isn't said is stronger. | |
| Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Possess Your Heart Lyrics | 17 years ago |

it's hard to believe this song lasts 8:35. i still wanted it to keep going after it ends. it's really beautiful, and amazing to drive to. can't wait to get the album the day it hits the shelf. |

| Neko Case – Star Witness Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| in all honesty, neko case has one of the most gorgeous voices of any female vocalist that is out there now. the first time i heard this song, it was a shock because i had only been used to her vocal styles as far as new pornographers. i knew she had it in her, but this song is extremely haunting. it's just about the most beautiful song i have ever heard in my entire life. and that's a fact. "the look on your face yanks my neck on the chain, and i would do anything to see you again" breaks my heart every time. her tone and emotion all throughout this track are phenomenal. this is the song i would use to introduce a newbie to neko case. still get chills even after hearing it so many, many times. | |

It's next to impossible to try and pick a favorite song off of the album, but I think this one just might be it. It's haunting and beautiful and I find that I put it on repeat moreso than with any of the others. "It's not a lover I want no more, and it's not heaven I'm pining for, but there's some spirit I used to know, that's been drowned out by the radio!" So wonderful. |

| Tori Amos – Siren Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Here are the original lyrics as printed: and you know you're gonna lie to you in your own way know know too well know the chill know she breaks my siren NEVER was one for a prissy girl coquette call in for an ambulance reach high doesn't mean SHE'S holy just means she's got a cellular handy almost brave almost pregnant almost in love "VANILLA" and you know you're gonna lie to you in your own way and you don't need the light to guide you though this If you read the song canvas, or at least the chapter in which it is mentioned, in Tori's book Piece By Piece, I think you all might view this song in a different way. Or at least hear it differently; the time in her life and the pain she was feeling the day it was recorded might just tug at your emotional chords a bit more. |

| Tori Amos – Apollo's Frock Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I'm shocked that no one's commented on this song yet. Out of all the tracks on Scarlet's Hidden Treasures, I think this is my favorite, next to `Tombigbee.` It's another one of her pieces where her piano composition is just gorgeous and goes along well with her voice, which is really hauntingly beautiful. It's just the bösendorfer and an acoustic guitar in this one. I love listening to it over and over again while doing nothing in particular. It sets a nice, calm mood. | |
| Tori Amos – Northern Lad Lyrics | 20 years ago |

This song breaks my heart over and over again each time I hear it. And, as much as I would like to agree that it has a lot to do with her husband Mark, I can't help but think that the song's placement on the album -- it follows the track `She's Your Cocaine` -- that it just has to be in reference to her feelings/failed love affair with Trent Reznor. From what most were led to believe and understand, there was no real closure there. It was so very abrupt, all very painful and betraying and the circumstance surrounding the song and her past would make it believable that this could be true. Whatever the case is and wherever she was emotionally when she started and completed the song -- she's stated that sometimes her songs take year and years to complete -- it translated so well. It's amazingly powerful and it's one of those songs that, if you're not brought to your knees or you don't feel something in the pit of your stomach or a pang in your heart, you just can't be human. Her voice, her piano, everything is pitch perfect. |
