Papillon translates as butterfly in french. Theres' also a book called "Papillon" by Henri Charrière I believe it was turned into a movie as well Havne't read the book or see the movie so not sure if the song is to do with the book or if it's just about un Papillon P.s. French Version is better :} |

This is a beautiful song, gotta love it. Pretty self explanatory, about the death of someone and he's passing the torch on to someone else. Starts off with cursing why and he doesn't want to die. "And darkness calls, no other way. I rage at the riddle of existence." But ends up accepting it "A tired man, is free at last. What would the purpose be of lying." Yea I'd like this song played at my funeral. Hopefully thats a good ways away though hahah |

Sadly this song holds very true. It's like Alucarda said, it's about back before mankind was corrupted and became obsessed as we are now. Things were perfect, they were wild, beautiful. I mean think back a thousand years, people back then belieevd there life was great. Go and see wide spread oceans and beautiful scenery, explore the wild unexplored. The excitement. And they cared for each other. Look at what mankind has become now. |

| Sonata Arctica – The Boy Who Wanted to Be a Real Puppet Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I don't believe this song is too hard (w00t first comment) But let's see. It's basically about greed. Theres a puppet master. And some person wants to buy his puppet. The master keeps on refusing saying hes priceless, but the man is consumed by greed, and so kills the master "The doll is mine, even if I have to kill..." This is where it kind of brances. I believe that the masters last words are "So this little boy... wants to be... a puppet, for real..." And so the man gets the golden heart of the puppet from him. However it's cursed or something. And, it takes control of him. And instead, he is no longer the master of the puppet. But the puppet is the master of him. Would you turn to a child again? "No, never, I am your Guide" You can see a small grin on the face Of the master, when the puppet's in his place I believe the rest is pretty much self explanatory... |

| Sonata Arctica – Shamandalie Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Ohkay this song has a lot within it, but I'm going to try and sum it up. It's a song about two people, they were wonderful friends as children and made those promises that well always be friends, I'll never leave you, etc. etc. I'm sure we all know what thats about. Anyways, time goes on, and as they grow out of childhood, they fall in love. However, the other (the one not singing, prolly girl) saw that this would not last, "You saw us always clearer than me how we were never meant to be" And so, of course, it ended "I was unable to cope with what you said Sometimes we need to be cruel to be kind" And he ask, if these feelings he had were real or, just a "Sham and a lie (shamandalie)" As time went by the many memories they had together faded and died, but he still missed them, hence why he writes this down. But then it also says "Love denied meant the friendship would die Now I have seen the light" I think that that makes him realize, that without love, the friendship would die. Basically meaning, if they denied love and stayed "friends" the friendship would die. As the guy saw it Yet as the woman saw it They were never meant to be. So perhaps this is just a doomed tragedy? then at the end "See the world with my wide open eyes" Wanting to see everything clearly, fully understand the reasons and why everythings happening. "Can you forgive me? The love got better off me" Asking for forgiveness for the mistakes made when they were lovers. That's what I get from the song, this is a really beautiful song and it means a lot to me, and I could go into much greater detail but I'm too lazy to type all that out. So I tried to sum it up... |

| Sonata Arctica – White Pearl, Black Oceans Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Amazing song, and I totally agree with supernacy As about "she had found the sails for the following night" I believe it's that she knew who he was, and that she knew that with him, she could escape the town. Since it states she was getting tired of this small town. |

I may be wrong, but I think this song is about a man who is always blamed for everything that happens at the town. He never puts up a fight, therefore losing his pride. Eventually it all builds up, and so he burns down the town. However in his madness he killed his family, so he then runs away into the mountains (or perhaps it was a mountain town??) And yea, suicide? perhaps? I don't know, I'm probably wrong btu that's what I got from it |
