I love this song, because I can relate to it on every single level. I love my boyfriend will all of my heart. We have been dating for two years, and someday I want to marry him. But in my church, guys are called as missionaries from the time they are 19-21. (sounds weird, but you can learn more about it at lds.org) He leaves soon, and for two years I will not be able to see him, talk to him, call him, and only write him letters once a week. While he is gone I am going to miss him terribly, but I will have to go on with my life. I will probably date other guys, and perhaps kiss some too, but every moment I'm with another guy, every kiss I share with another guy, I will be thinking of my love. We have to be apart, but that doesn't mean I will stop loving him. Our love will be put to the test, and after two years, if our love is true, we will be reuinited. So... I love listening to this song, because it reminds me that even though he's going to be gone, he will still be in my thoughts every single moment. It is a beautiful song. |

Such a fun song! My take: Miley has a crush on this guy, and she likes him so much that whenever she sees him she just acts like a complete fool. So she can't wait to see him again, not only because she thinks this guy is just great, but so hopefully she can redeem herself. Ha. who hasn't acted like an idiot around someone we liked? SO rocking. |

I FREAKING LOVE THIS SONG. I agree that the girl is scared... because she's obviously had her heart broken before. It's parking lot. You gotta remember, this is a cover. I think Joni Mitchill did the orignial. Go look it up and listen to her song, and it'll be obvious. The song wouldn't make sense otherwise.
Anyway. Has anyone else heard that this song is originally about a father "taken away" (either killed or just left his family) in a taxi cab? That was a rumor I heard, but I don't know...
It's definitely about how we take not only people, but everything for granted. Even simple things like trees. We need to stop paving the world with parking lots before we have to go to a mueseum to see trees...
