I used to think this song was mediocre until I learned it was about something real that affected her. The lyrics are so simple but they express an absolute and honest desire to reach out across the bridge of the dead. This tangible longing is far more poignant than a fake story could ever be, and that is why this song is heartrending. |

This song is saying that you need to be sincere to yourself. You don't need to have a reason in order to have a unique opinion - it's yours. "Find yourself, 'cause I can't find you" means that YOU are the only one who can find you. Do what YOU do. Who knows what could happen, just keep living, laughing, embracing the world and forge your own future. |

I agree with FireStillBurns. Great interpretations everyone, it's helped me to understand this song better and love it more than ever. I gotta think that if that was a boyfriend I had just broken up with, maybe I'd actually listen to him if I could hear this song. I still wouldn't get back together with him though, ha ha. I'd probably have a good reason for breaking up, just as he hadn't given me "a reason to stay" ... |
