Holding Out for a Hero (Bonnie Tyler cover) Lyrics
Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where's the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night toss and turn and dream of what I need
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero until the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero until the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It's gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero until the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero until the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I would swear that there's someone somewhere
Watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach
Like the fire in my blood
And where are all the gods?
Where's the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night toss and turn and dream of what I need
I'm holding out for a hero until the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero until the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It's gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet
I'm holding out for a hero until the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero until the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I would swear that there's someone somewhere
Watching me
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach
Like the fire in my blood

awesome cover
WHERE ARE ALL THE HEROES?!
i like the shrek version...
I love Footloose the musical. It was performed at my high school last year and I performed in the pit orchestra. Frou Frou's cover is awesome.
i was actually looking for the other version off of shrek but this came up and i just think that its fantastic!
this versions MUCH better than when Jennifer Saunders sings it!!!!!:p But i like Bonnie Tyler's version as well!
I personally think that... the narrator of this song is too lazy to find a guy, so she pretends to be a damsel in distress so a hero will come to her. :P
my friend wrote a parody of this: "Holding out for a Weirdo"....
it doesn't really mean she wants a hero. it's about how she's waiting for someone who's perfect for her, who's willing to get above and beyond just for her. (instead of just dating around, wasting time.)
she'd rather wait for someone who's her own hero.
that's how i see it.
She's sick of all the world's mess and wants someone who's right for her, can take care of all her problems.
this song is about the fact that good men are almost impossible to find.
