| The Maccabees – The Real Thing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
ok so this is one of the most beautiful maccabees songs in existance. I think the meaning is pretty self explanatory...its about a guy trying to get over a relationship. she doesn't want him, he still wants her but is convincing himself otherwise by wiping all traces of her from his life eg "tearing up the letters". the hope in this song is soooooo beautiful...he can see light at the end of thunnel and knows that this wont last forever..there are better things waiting for him. if you havent got this song, download it immediately. |

| The Holloways – Two Left Feet Lyrics | 18 years ago |
is the first line a reference to the smiths lyrics "I would go out tonight, but I haven't got a stitch to wear" ?? anyway this song is the happiest thing I've heard all day :) |
| Belle & Sebastian – Expectations Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song is one of my favourite b&s songs, it needs more comments! The chorus is beautifully reassurring, its like everything you've never talked about during your school years. Maybe I just like it because it has specific personal significance for me, but I think it's one of their best |

| Jamie T – A New England Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love the original but I think Jamie's version is even better, he's fantastic. "Well, I saw two shooting stars last night I wished on them, but they were only satellites It's wrong to wish on space hardware I wish, I wish, I wish you cared" I really love this verse, the tenderness in which he sings the last line espeically is wonderful live. |

| Jamie T – Ike & Tina Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song, first, has a fantastic melody and possibly one of the underrated songs on this album? As for the meaning, I believe its simply a reference to various types of drugs, and a attitude which suggests a lack of care towards the consequences-suggesting a celebration of youth in london. "Max says beans are like the touch of God Why not, I haven't got grief 'til Monday" beans=pills? He is keen to take the drugs because he won't feel the consequnces until monday (work?) "With slkurs and urs and a half done gram"-obviously a drug reference here "I'm like gurning it off a my face"- gurning, the side effect of ecstasy The last two verses seem to show a shift in attitude-the STD clinic and dissaporoving voice of the mother shows the consequences of this seemingly hedonistic lifestyle. either way, its a fantastic song. |

| Patrick Park – Life is a Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song sums up my morals in a beatiful epiphany of chords. If more people lived like this song suggests, perhaps we'd all be in a happier place. | |
| Elliott Smith – Somebody That I Used to Know Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i know everyone has said it, but this fits my situation so perfectly its as if I wrote these words... the lines "I know you don't think you did me wrong And I can't stay this mad for long" are heartbreaking for me. Im trying to get over a guy who cheated on me. he doesnt believe it was cheating..he doesnt believe he did me wrong. and im so angry, but i still like him..its so hard to stay angry when I still have feelings for him. my friend wrote this down for me the day after I found out what had happened its been on repeat for days and its so sad that it gets me every single time |

| Patrick Wolf – Pigeon Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I adore this song. It conjures up imaes of Parisian streets for me, so lyes, fits in with the isea of being lost, alienated, and alone, in places unknown. Brilliant. | |
| Larrikin Love – Edwould Lyrics | 19 years ago |
When I got 'the freedom spark' I read through all the lyrics, and I must say, thought they were odd. However there's no doubting the quality of the songs. Has anyone got any interpretations of the actual meaning of this song? confusion about identity? low self esteem? |

| Jamie T – Sheila Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| the ultimate 21st century anthem, no doubt. His passion is unbelieveable | |
| Feeder – Save us Lyrics | 19 years ago |
simple, yet with a delicate beauty. I agree with specle thats its probably about a relationship ending, but he believes they could pull through together. Words such as 'torn' suggest the girl is also unsure on her feelings, but her 'will' or stubborness insists that this realtionship ends. the line 'face against the ground' almost suggests that this is a decision she has been forced into. I loved this song from the first time I heard it |
| Jack Johnson – Lullaby Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| a beautifully simple love song about someone who has to leave their love for a while but wants to reassurre them. simple but very sweet and gentle | |
| Death Cab for Cutie – We Looked Like Giants Lyrics | 19 years ago |
'And we'd learn how our bodies worked.' I wish all artists could write as lyrically as that..it sums up everything about awkward teenage fumbling, learning about yourself, about the wider world... And together there, In the shroud of frost, The mountain air began to pass Through every pane of weathered glass, And I held you closer than anyone would ever get. This is just an alternative thought, but this could mean that, as they are in their teenage years, they are learning about the world and they come to a point where they realise how big and terrifying the world is. All the want to do is reamin cocooned together, not having to think about anything else apart from the here and now, that single moment, 2 people in a car. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Death of an Interior Decorator Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I want to see that film so much.....I think it would just clarify this song for me.... This was the first DCFC song I ever heard and it really did make me fall in love with them. This song is so so beautiful it makes me want to cry. Ben's voice is so tender, so sensitive, and his voice + this line 'Can you tell me why you have been so sad?'...works in such harmony. I could rave about DCFC all day |
| Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Follow You Into the Dark Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is a song that could only be written if you were in love. This song, it's tone, it's meaning could span so many generations...like love, life and death, no matter how old you are, it affects you... |
| Jimmy Eat World – The Middle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
best. ever. feelgood. song. It's just what I need to hear |
| Placebo – I Know Lyrics | 19 years ago |
chilling, sad, beautiful. This song grew on me quickly from the first time I heard it. I think it's about acceptance of your actions and the fact that you can never truly escape, and yourself, to some degree, is to blame for all the wrongs in your life. |
| Bright Eyes – Landlocked Blues Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think this is such a sad song. It's not one that people may consider as sad, but I really think it is. It's such a statement about the world today, it's almost heartbreaking. It's like...people can't surrender anymore. Violence is imminent. It's a beautiful song | |
| Jimmy Eat World – The Middle Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Fabulous. Puts a smile on your face no matter what. It really makes me believe in myself. It doesn't matter what other people think. | |
| Less Than Jake – The Science of Selling Yourself Short Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This was THE song that made me get into less than jake. This song is everything a teenager feels. What makes the song so great has to be the upbeat melody...and yet the lyrics scream of hopelessness. Like putting on a mask to cover up your own insecurties-which is exactly what teenagers do. I'm seeing LTJ in april...if it wasn't for this song I wouldn't be. | |
| Weezer – The World Has Turned And Left Me Here Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Even from the opening you can tell that this is a slightly different weezer song. The lyrics are great, my favourite line has to be "And in your place an empty space has filled the void behind my face" definetely one of the best songs on the album. And to stryker311: Beverly Hills is a fun song. Pop it may be, but pop doesn't have to be a bad thing. It's a happy kind of song and every band needs a couple of fun songs. |
| The Libertines – Don't Look Back Into The Sun Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| When I hear this song i can picture the scene so clearly...a young man, rucksack on back...walking away as the sun sets behind him. He's walking away, forgetting the past...he has to make a new life. Maybe he's messed up and he knows that the only way to sort himself out is to leave and start again. That's just my interpretation. But it is one of my favourite Libertines songs. | |
| Bright Eyes – A Line Allows Progress, a Circle Does Not Lyrics | 20 years ago |
This song is fantastic. It screams of desperation, hopelessness and an impossible routine. 'this feeling always used to pass but seems like it's every day seems like its every night now' This seems to refer to drug use. At first, you think you can control it but slowly it consumes you, until you are in a bottomless pit. This song makes me cry, but it also inspires me. I write so much when listening to Bright Eyes. Conor writes some of the most poignant lyrics that I know |
| The Moldy Peaches – Anyone Else but You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
This song is so cute. It just makes me go 'squeeee!' My favourite line has to be: "We sure are cute for two ugly people" |
| Jesse James – Shoes Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I think this is just a good-time song for bouncing about to. That's all I search for in this song. |
| Dopamine – Six Miles South From Home Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I saw Dopamine a couple of months ago. They weren't bad. I think this song is about change. How he is clinging onto the last strings of a time in his life which is about to be lost forever and how things will never be the same again. |
| Snow Patrol – Run Lyrics | 20 years ago |
This song sums up a lot of things in my life, and it almost makes me cry. It does, if I'm in the right mood. I don't think it's about drug addiction. I think it's about the last ties of a dying relationship. To think I might not see those eyes Makes it so hard not to cry And as we said our long goodbyes I nearly did these lines are my favourite. |
