Green Day – 21 Guns Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this is mostly about a relationship that just ended or should end. And the person knows they have to let go, but can't.

I think this sits as my least favorite green day album though.

Top 3

Dookie
Insmoniac
American Idiot

Bruce Dickinson – Tears Of The Dragon Lyrics 16 years ago
I think it's pretty much about overcoming isolationism and apathy. Becoming open with yourself and others and not burying your emotions.

Bad Religion – Faith Alone Lyrics 17 years ago
"And if you get rid of God, then you have no logical basis for good and bad (values)"

And "Spread forth and multiply" doesn't sound like a reckless, suicidal concept to you?

The Offspring – Hammerhead Lyrics 17 years ago
Could be about Iraq. Think about it in comparison to Urban Warfare, where kickin down the door and opening fire is a major part of.

Misfits – Descending Angel Lyrics 17 years ago
If it's based off a movie it's probably "The Prophecy" 1 & 2. Which is about a second war in heaven.

The Offspring – Race Against Myself Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with said posts. I just wanted to say that there is one minor lyrical error.

It's

"my whole world is half-hearted" not half parted

Ramones – Pet Sematary Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm surprised no one mentioned it yet but Stephen King was friends with Joey Ramone (I believe it was Joey if I remember correctly). King actually wrote a whole story about him and Joey going to a French Restaurant in the liner notes of the Ramones tribute CD.

Pennywise – God Save The USA Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is bad.

Jello Biafra, now that's a song writer.

BTW Screw the left and the right. Long live the REALIST NON-CRYBABY center!

Bad Religion – Stranger Than Fiction Lyrics 18 years ago
I wonder, which Wolfe he's referring to. There's quite a few authors by that name. I'm guessing it's Tom Wolfe though, who wrote the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test.

Bad Religion – Beyond Electric Dreams Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it has a lot to do about SETI and radio signals going out through space. I think its about SETI intercepting an alien signal of some kind and humanity realizing how truly insignificant we are. And also about realizing that at the same time our civilization has left an immortal mark in the universe with our electromagnetic communications.
Our radio signals will travel into space almost for eternity, and will exist somewhere in space til the end of the universe itself.

crazy stuff. And I also believe Pale Blue Dot must have influenced this song.

Iron Maiden – Where Eagles Dare Lyrics 18 years ago
It more or less had to do with rescuing a captured allied officer who knew the plans for the D-day invasion.

Queensrÿche – I Don't Believe In Love Lyrics 18 years ago
In Mindcrime 2 it turns out the Nikki was actually the one who killed her.

Social Distortion – Down on the World Again Lyrics 18 years ago
The final verse is missing. Here it is.

Well, I tried to play for the higher stakes
You won't let me forget my mistakes
I'm unforgiven
And I'm down on the world again
This ain't the way it's supposed to be, there's a dark cloud
Following me
I'm distorted
And I'm down on the world aga

St. Jimmy could have possibly been JOS's brother. It makes sense and would clear up a few connections as well.

I believe he's in jail in part 2 of the song.

GWAR – The Road Behind Lyrics 19 years ago
BTW, it's not "And another signpost gone" it's "and another MILEPOST gone".

GWAR – The Road Behind Lyrics 19 years ago
I believe this song was about the original Beefcake (Bishop) leaving the band. I think this song was written and recorded right before he doing his last tour.

submissions
Black Sabbath – Sabbath Bloody Sabbath Lyrics 19 years ago
This song probably is about the band. But it can easily be understood to be about the book Fahrenheit 451.

Earth, water, fire and wind were four of the chapters of Miyamoto Musashi's "Book of 5 Rings".

Iron Maiden – Brighter Than a Thousand Suns Lyrics 19 years ago
The Unholy trinity is most likely refering to the first nuclar test codenamed "trinity". Or it could be refering to the Nuclear trifecta of Strategic Bombers, ICBM, and SLBMs.

Bad Religion – Part IV (The Index Fossil) Lyrics 20 years ago
An index fossil is a type of species that is known to have existed for only a short period of time. I'm not sure how short a period of time (in millions of years of course). But this gives Paleontologists a good marker for dating things in rock layers. Technically, what is being said is, after humanity whipes itself to extinction, millions of years of now we'd make a pretty good index fossil.

Bad Religion – Losing Generation Lyrics 20 years ago
About human conquest over nature. Destruction of the enviroment, hunting, etc. you know, that old chestnut.

Pretty much the same concept as Megadeth's Countdown to Extinction.

IMHO : definetely not one of BRs better songs.

submissions
Iron Maiden – Run Silent, Run Deep Lyrics 20 years ago
Clearly about submarine warfare during WW2. Most likely about the movie of the same name as well.

submissions
Megadeth – High Speed Dirt Lyrics 20 years ago
