spot on rather_dirty_nation Vicarious is about living life vicariously through your television. The word vicarious means experianced or gained through someone else. It's about how we all sit in front of our tv's 24 hours a day gathering useless information instead of getting up and actually doing something meaningful. If we don't do anything with our lives we might as well be dead yet we think were better off than those people we watch on tv who die trying.

There was a time when Kurt did believe in christianity and he was actually baptised. I'm not a religious person but for somebody to get baptised it means they must really believe and are not just going along with it for the fun. Maybe he interpreted the song as he wasn't good enough for good and it related to his situation. I prefer nirvana's version to the vaselines |

to Jsmear. If you actually read Kurt's "suicide Note" you might realise it isn't written like a suicide note. Having read quite alot about Kurt Cobain the only part of the note which sounds like a suicide note is the last four lines which were written in a different hand writing. The note was actually regarding the break up of nirvana. Both Dave and Krist said nirvana had broke up before he died. The song is about how Kurt Cobain cant be who everyone wants him to be, he feels a fraud because he can't go up on stage and enjoy it like freddie mercury.
Also re the Suicide. Kurt Cobain took a lethal amount of heroin, it wasn't possible for him to hold a gun let alone pull the trigger. |

This was the first song i heard by Antony & the Johnsons and i was completely blown away by it. very few artists can convey such emotion in a song nowadays. Also he has the most amazin voice ive heard since Jeff Buckley. I agree the song is about the fear of death also about being lonely to and just wishin there was someone there for you. |

This is one of my favourite Songs ever. Nick Hornby speaks about this song in his book 31 Songs and captures it perfectly.
I love the Line " people meditate, hey thats just great, trying to find the inner you", this is the bit when Martha ( Rufus's Sister) starts to harmonise.
It is true that the song was written by Rufus's father Loudon Wainwright III. I think it was at a time when Rufus didn't get on with his Dad as well which adds another twist to the song! |

Im pretty sure the song was written about Heroin. Pink Floyd weren't the greatest lyricist's so usually the most obvious meaning is correct.
