| Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness – Cecilia And The Satellite Lyrics
| 9 years ago
|
"As a song it encapsulate so much living against the back drop of a new life. Cecilia was written with the knowledge that my wife and I would soon meet our first child. With the hope of avoiding territory this type of song often treads, I tried to create a road map of the life I had lived leading up to that moment. One my daughter might look back on some day. A strange life of constant motion, spent traveling in the pursuit of music. A life I’ve nearly lost on more than one occasion and one which I am thankful for, now more than ever. Deep down this song is about more than me and where I’ve been, it’s about more than my daughter and what I want for her. It’s about being proud of where you come from and wanting the most for the people you share your world with."

| Oh Wonder – Without You Lyrics
|
from the band: "Without You" was the last song we wrote on the album when we realised we wanted to make it fifteen tracks, and we gave ourselves three days to write and record a song. What came out was this Frank Ocean-inspired tune that examines the listless waiting around for your lover to come home. We love that Josephine's brother is playing saxophone on it!

| Oh Wonder – Plans Lyrics
|
from the band: We both live in London, and are used to the majority of our friends living in dingy, basement flats with no natural light and paying through the nose for the privilege. "Plans" tells a little story of someone who lives in a basement flat, but has plans to get out, build a paper plane where they'll be "scraping the skies with our fingertips, screaming "'this is the life, we were born for this!'" It's about believing in yourself no matter what, and understanding that everything is transient, and everything will pass. You just gotta dream big and have faith.

| Oh Wonder – Landslide Lyrics
|
from the band: "This song poured out of us in minutes after we heard that Josephine's brother had broken up with his girlfriend. We ran down to the studio and wrote this song as a way of comforting him - and indeed for anyone that has gone through something difficult. After 10 minutes we ran back in to show him what we had written for him, and it was a deeply moving moment for us all."

| Oh Wonder – Livewire Lyrics
|
From the band: "It examines the importance of being someone's 'livewire', their strength and energy. Everyone goes through dark days, and we all occasionally need a helping hand from someone to pull us back into the beauty of life. Human relationships are more important than ever in today's society where more and more people are experiencing depression and isolation. We've gotta be there for each other."

| The Paper Kites – Paint Lyrics

@[SSeale:6230] Great job! He actually admitted this in an interview I read.
It's also called "Paint" because he painted something on his house for his exgirlfriend with what he thought was invisible paint but turned out to not be. He left it on there even after they broke up. At the end, he's finally got around to painting over it but still finds it difficult because that relationship still means a lot to him. |

Saw Andrew at coachella, he briefly said this was about reuniting with an old friend. I agree with thisdesert about the reference to heroin abuse, and I think it's primarily about reuniting with a friend who went down that path. |
