Could this one possibly be about Romeo and Juliet? "Fear not, dear Juliet, your Romeo's calling He's waiting for you at the end of the song, This world was too cruel... for lovers like you, But here in our hearts you'll always live on... " That could be reffering to Romeo's death and Juliet's suicide... and "The families at odds fought with poisoned tongues" could be about how their families were fighting and they were not supposed to be in love. |

| Vanessa has said that this song is about the "raw emotions she feels in the morning" or something like that. | |
| Blackmore's Night – Loreley Lyrics | 20 years ago |

I think this song may be the story of one of the Sirens from Greek Mythology. "Legend's faded storyline Tried to warn us all Oh, they called her "Loreley" Careful or you'll fall... Oh, the stories we were told Quite a vision to behold Mysteries of the seas in her eyes of gold... Laying on the silver stone, such a lonely sight Barnacles become a throne, my poor Loreley..." That might be the beginning of how Loreley turned into a Siren, because Sirens were, in some stories, mermaids. "Oh, the song of Loreley Charms the moon right from the sky... She will get inside your mind, loveley Loreley... When she cries "Be with me until the end of time" You know you will ever be with your Loreley... " I guess that one is the story of the Sirens. The Sirens lured sailors to them with their beautiful singing voices to the rocks underwater near the island they lived on. I guess in this version, the Siren says "Be with me until the end of time" and "You know you will ever be with your Loreley" might mean that she knows she is drawing you to her, and you will die on the rocks, therefore "ever being with your Loreley". |
