Be Your Own Pet – Becky Lyrics | 16 years ago |
THis is one of the best songs on the album. beyond just being about a girl murdering her ex-best friend, i think it shows how pointless school violence is. which seems to be very popular in america |
Sonic Boom Six – Bigger Than Punk Rock Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The idea is that punk was about freedom, right? like the freedom from the 'corporate rock' that bogged itself down in too many rules. then the punks came along and started dressing uniformly, and creating rules for punk bands, essentially stifling creativity. this contradicted the original idea of punk. so the bands like the Clash (who are huge influences on SB6) started to experiment more with different genres. and thats why SB6 gigs have fans that like hip-hop and punk together. just like the line "we're better together" |
Crass – Punk Is Dead Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Punk died for 2 reasons: 1. the people who were truly punk did it for the music, and so those people started to change and experiment in the name of producing better music (better in the sense of skill, not preference.) 2. the fans only wanted 3 min long pure punk songs, and so after a while it all started to sound the same. punk musicians weren't allowed to do anything different because the fans would hate it. and so once rules were imposed on what punk bands were allowed to do, it killed the idea of punk as being a rejection of rules. see, its self contradictory. Therefore the Punks killed Punk, not the media, or the 'system' or whatever. |
Louis Armstrong – What A Wonderful World Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I've heard a version of this where Louis says "Some of you young folks been saying to me, what do you mean wonderful world? how about all them wars all over the place? you call them wonderful? and how about hunger and pollution? they ain't so wonderful either." louis then says "Seems to me it ain't the world thats so bad but what were doin' to it. And all i'm saying is see what a wonderful world it would be if only we'd give it a chance. love baby, love, thats the secret, if lots more of us loved each other we'd solve lots more problems." hence i think this solves the problem that people have been mentioning. "ignorance is bliss" you know its equally painful to ignore the good things in life and focus on the bad. yeah, if you want to focus on starving children fine, but frankly what are you actually doing about it? I'm sure it's all fine to sit there and blame it on the world, but behind every tragedy, lies a human face not doing what they should be doing. ergo: World = Wonderful People = A Bit Hit And Miss |
Reverend And The Makers – What The Milkman Saw Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think this song is started by this poem. the edge of cliffs feels all decayed, cos all the punters stay away, put off by negative reports, of lairy bastards, mucky shores, edge of cliffs filled terace houses, lie low lills, unfaithful spouses, dirty weekends by the sea, and stains on sheets in B&Bs, the sort of place you come to die, its fucking grim no wonder why, think i'll save you from the rest, even the seagulls theyre depressed |
The Enemy – TechnoDanceaPhobic Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm from coventry, where this band is from and after seeing them at Godiva Fest 2007 i know why this song was written. It was written purely to get several thousand people shouting "Banging on the back seat" at full volume. probably with the aim of seriously annoying all the residents that complain at the noise of the festival. at least thats my humble opinon. |
Stone Sour – Funky Milk Lyrics | 17 years ago |
but im sure this was on a demo, so therfore they may not have been that concerned with naming the song properly. so they must have just decided on some meaningless name. you really cant hate a band just because they named one song after a nonsense phrase. |
Lily Allen – Nan, You're a Window Shopper Lyrics | 17 years ago |
is this a parody of "fiddy cent"? |
The Automatic – Monster Lyrics | 17 years ago |
its about being more drunk than any decent human being should be, and doing something incredibly stupid. |
The Automatic – You Shout You Shout You Shout You Shout Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The song is about well, basically rubbish songs that gain huge commercial success and radio airplay devoted to them "You got a fever and you cant sweat it out" its probably a completely innocent coincidence but this line could be a sly dig at Panic @ The Disco. |
Plan B (uk) – Tough Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song is absolutely awesome, at least my joint fave on the album. as for the meaning, im pretty sure it it tells itself. and yeah im sure ive heard stories like this in the news, supposedly righteous parents preaching (brainwashing) their kids to believe a bunch of crap, then when they relise that the child can think for him or herself they react in the most extreme and violent way, breaking half the rules of their own religion along the way. |
Plan B (uk) – Kidz Lyrics | 17 years ago |
heh, i love this song, simply because most stupid people would take it at face value. to me im pretty sure hes being completely sarcastic to the extreme. i reckon its more like playing to peoples steryotypes, since the song is exaggerated about as far as it can go. |
Plan B (uk) – Sick 2 Def Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Plan B is the greatest rap/hip hop artist in the history of the universe. and im saying that as someone who previously hated the genre with a passion. this song may just be his best,. its like when there a media backlash againts music and films and games, when they get blamed for violence commited by people. and this song is like his take on eventssaying, how can it be reasonable to blame any one source of media for an atrocity when violence is forced upon us from all angles. |
Flyleaf – Broken Wings Lyrics | 18 years ago |
can i just quickly point out that just because they are a christian band, does not mean that every single bloody song is about god thankyou. |
Nevermore – Godmoney Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is fairly stragihtforward, and is very similar to metallicas 'leper messiah' except in this case its a 'bastard saint' |
The Dresden Dolls – My Alcoholic Friends Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song just describes a million and one drunken nightsor even days out. this song has a special meaning to me, because i never went out drinking until my friends convinced me, and the rest they say is history |
Blink-182 – Degenerate Lyrics | 18 years ago |
'Went to a farm to tip some cows Forgot that I left my pants down Bent over to pick them up Felt a twelve gauge up my hum-diddy-dum' ahh classic verse |
Hell Is For Heroes – You Drove Me To It Lyrics | 18 years ago |
extremely underrated band and the song definitely has echoes of suicidal tendancies |
Billy Talent – River Below Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i thought it was about a terrorist or something because of the 'red button' that has been the symbol of a bomb for years. plus "you'll all think im insane, but you'll all know my name" and "i'll take all the blame the front page and the fame" its like the overwhelming media coverage that terrorist attacks get when what we should be doing is trying not to give the terrorists publicity. the river below symbolises the river styx, that in greek mythology carried the dead to the under world, the inferno is the bomb blast. the contraption is the bomb and so on. |
Billy Talent – Lies Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think this song appeals to everybody as everybody has been lied to at some point. |
Billy Talent – The Ex Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"we'll my open worms well they time i'd say your my all time plack then the sky turned grey your my all time plack and the sky turned grey" who ever wrote those lyrics must be smokin somethin illegal, c'mon man, there in the booklet!! |
Billy Talent – Line And Sinker Lyrics | 18 years ago |
oh and sucking on cuts has a purpose: 1 it cleans any excess blood off 2 saliva acts as a healing agent 3 blood does kind taste nice so.... i think thats why animals lick wounds as well, cos saliva really does help the healing process. |
Billy Talent – Line And Sinker Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this is certailny one of my favourite songs ever! how can anyone listen to it and not start screaming along to "what you see is what you get"? |
Green Day – Jesus of Suburbia Lyrics | 19 years ago |
why do people say they are becoming like everyone else? i mean everone else doesnt release an ambitious punk rock opera detailing the live of 3 characters while simulteaniously putting in the most personal song ever (wake me up when september ends) and still linking it up with the story. |
