| James Taylor – Her Town Too Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I always thought it may have been the perspective of a friend who went through the same thing, not the ex. The friend may have been an ex from the past, or someone whom had feelings for her at some point. The big point is that during a breakup/divorce you may not be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but a good friend may help remind it's there. | |
| Katy Perry – The One That Got Away (feat. B.o.B.) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| seems like the girl in the story might have had stray thoughts/feelings about another guy. obviously rich. during a moment of weakness (high school emotions!) she took the plunge and ended things with her dude and went after the money guy. years later realized she gave up a good thing for a financially secure, albeit loveless life. and that is a price millions cannot cover. | |
| Beck – Lonesome Tears Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I haven't seen the music video, but in my mind it starts with a close-up on Beck letting out one teardrop that, while falling in slo-mo, starts forming into an orchestra. such a beautiful song, but it always tugs on the heartstrings when played. if you get the chance, this makes an amazing song to listen to while staring up at the stars with some friends in a secluded area. will always remind me of one epic night while working a summer in Alaska. |

| BIS – Poster Parent Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Actually, it is "Poster Parent", as written on the album cover. I'd love to know what the lady says at the end of the track, can only make out a few phrases. great song, love the likening of someone's interest in a band/artist/celebrity to being obsessive like a "parent", getting mad and jealous when they realize others love him/her/them too, etc etc |

| Nerf Herder – Jacket Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'm glad I finally looked at the lyrics to this classic. I always thought he said "blood from when you scraped your teeth" and my initial reaction was "scraped your teeth on WHAT?" O_O great song, i'm sure many of you out there have had a clothing item that you cherished and gave to an (now) ex...ohh the memories. |

| Islands – Heartbeat Lyrics | 16 years ago |
alright, so I saw Islands last week and got to chat with Nick Diamonds afterward. I asked about Heartbeat and whether it was mocking the autotune trend (see above comment) and his response: "Not exactly...it's more or less dating our music, so to speak. Everyone's doing autotune right now, so we said why not do a song that follows the current trend. At the end of the day, it's just a special effect. Nothing else." Whoops. I told him my reasoning and he just smiled and said he saw where i was coming from. Great guy. |
| Islands – Heartbeat Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Very much sounds like making fun of/asking for action against the current "autotune" trend in music and the artists that are using it. "destroy what destroys my own heartbeat" |

| Jenny Lewis – You Are What You Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Interestingly enough, in concert Jenny sings the line "But you are what you love, CONOR" with a leer and hint of sarcasm in her voice...thoughts? |
| Jenny Lewis – The Highs and Lows of Being Number One Lyrics | 16 years ago |
instead of "It wasn't easy with a real cool face" I think the line is "it was an easy wind, a real cool pace" meaning wise, it's about cults. Rumor has it on some of Jenny's more recent concerts, she's asked the crowd if they want to hear "a favorite, or a new song about cults" and performed this song when they chose the latter. |

| Rainer Maria – Atropine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
going to a magic man out of desperation, looking for something to raise the dead? I'm going to agree and say literal as well, the sadness speaks volumes in this tune. |
| The Donnas – Save Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
correction: I come alive when I feel the sting |
| The Donnas – Give Me What I Want Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Only the Donnas can get away with a glam rock/80s hair metal homage song about blackmailing an ex-boyfriend for sex. Good stuff. | |
| Rilo Kiley – Give a Little Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Someone mentioned on another song off of UTB (i forget which) that when interviewed for SPIN, Rilo Kiley said this album was to feel "like a party album." They accomplished just that, with this song being the ending/slow dance song that closes the album (or party, so to speak). So what if it doesnt have steelbending lyrics and substance out the wazoo? Enough bashing RK, they went for a change and it was an interesting effort. Who knows, the next step might go back to their older style? I like it. This song is definitely the perfect song to end the party. |

| BIS – Today of All Days Lyrics | 18 years ago |
incorrect lyrics: never thought it would be me in disguise should be never thought it would be me you despise me in disguise = me you despise |
| Nina Gordon – The End Of The World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
great cover of Skeeter Davis's song. Nina Gordon's voice is hauntingly beautiful, which works so well for the lyrics. |
| Nellie McKay – Cupcake Lyrics | 19 years ago |
ok, i feel like an idiot now. I just looked at a CD review and this song is supposed to be in FAVOR of gay marriage. Now that i look at the lyrics (and listen) some more, i can see it now. Please disregard my last message :-X regardless, still amazing song |
| Nellie McKay – Cupcake Lyrics | 19 years ago |
wow. is it just me, or is she insinuating she needs this guy to confirm her heterosexuality? Or maybe it's just because he keeps denying her love and others suspect she is gay? I dunno, but funny and cute song. |
| Nellie McKay – Mama & Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"I want a suicide pill! Give me a suicide pill!" hahahaha i love that line. despite the humor interjected throughout, this is a beautiful song about a mother and daughter getting by all by themselves. You can hear the venom in her voice about the lack of help from the paternal members of her family...but still Nellie makes it a whimsical, bittersweet song. |
| Gisli – Straight to Hell Lyrics | 19 years ago |
basically, Gisli is saying "blah blah blah everything sucks, and thinking like this is just pointless." Self-defeating but realizing it. And not doing anything about it. Oh the irony... great song! |
| Gisli – How About That Lyrics | 19 years ago |
People make mistakes. People change from good to bad, or vice versa. They're fine where they are, so just mind your own business. the music video makes me laugh a lot, especially the cow having a bazillion calfs when it gets hit by a bowling ball. |
| BIS – Cookie Cutter Kid Lyrics | 20 years ago |
"but it's gotta be said that it's up to you to your ideals always remain true when they tell you to change your mind true belief i will hope you find" sums it up exactly. gotta love this song |
| BIS – I'll Get You Back Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Revenge, bitch! | |
| BIS – A Portrait From Space Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The last song off Bis's last full-length EP, "Return to Central"...they're drifting off to space. Peacefully though, which could be showing that the end/breakup of Bis was a calm one, not fueled by anger or malice. Fortunately, they're back at it under the name Data Panik! Check them out :-D | |
| BIS – Don't Let The Rain Come Down Lyrics | 20 years ago |
The singer is seeking professional help, maybe because no one else will listen to him. Sounds like he's apologizing for what he says, but still he says it because he needs to get it out of his system. He could just be a nervous wreck, or someone with an anxiety disorder...seems to find the safety of his home to be a comfort from the "rain" outside. He didn't ask for these problems of his, or even the fact that the outside world bothers him. Could be completely wrong, but thats how i see it. BTW,Picked up the "Plastique Nouveau" CD on a trip to London! Was well worth the price! |
| Veruca Salt – One Last Time Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Definitely sounds like a rough relationship, in which the singer wants it to work out, regardless of the pain and hurt that occurs. In fact, she kind of sounds like she wants to change, as if that will make things better, even if it means changing what she stands for... | |
| My Robot Friend – I am the Robot Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i'm a little unsure about the lyrics, but since i couldnt find them anywhere...i did what i could. Any corrections would be appreciated. Fun song, though...more explicit when you can hear the words rather than the catchy beat |
