| Europe – More Than Meets The Eye Lyrics

This song seems to be about a man who is barely functioning in the outside life while covering up the fact that he is absolutely devastated by the loss of his lover. He's doing what men do best: hiding his emotions and pretending he's "just fine". |

All I can say is I hope that the guy who dumped me in such a cowardly fashion this morning feels this haunted. |

This song, like most of the album, is about yet another guy who's girlfriend is cheating on him. Don't know what was going on in Joey's life at the time, but this is generally a very angry album. And their best, in my humble opinion. |

| Europe – Love Chaser Lyrics

I get a picture of a girl who has a man in her life who is a friend or someone she trusts, but he is also kinda stalking her. Or just crushing on here really badly...she can sense someone watching, but she's not seeing his intentions. |

| Europe – Lights And Shadows Lyrics

This song reminds me a lot of my relationship patterns. Hot and cold, dark and bright...my moods are like this too. Also reminds me of my ex; we had some "lights and shadows" for a good year-and-a-half after we split up...hee hee! |

| Europe – I'll Cry For You Lyrics

This song makes me think of a slow-starting relationship that perhaps wasn't expected to become a relationship at all, until bam! He realizes he can't imagine life without her. I love this song too. |

| Europe – Homeland Lyrics

This song has such a sense of yearning about it, sometimes it can bring a tear to my eye. The band had been living in North America for so long, trying like hell to get a foothold in the United States. They were homesick, missing their girlfriends/wives, missing their kids...even the ridiculously cold Swedish winters! |

Most of this album seems to be about a fizzling relationship (perhaps Joey and Elizabeth?) I think this is a desperate attempt by the man to try and rekindle the initial spark in the relationship, but the girl just seems to have had enough. |

I think that this is about a guy who was thinking of maybe leaving a relationship, only to realize that what's he's been searching for has been right in front of his nose the whole time. |

Yeah, this poor dude's got a jealous psycho for a girlfriend. I should know, I used to be her. This song is really funny, and I've heard Joey say that they laughed their asses off writing it, even though Beau Hill helped. |

| Europe – Girl From Lebanon Lyrics

Yeah, this is a true story about a girl that Joey and I believe Mic had the hots for in Lebanon. The country was just starting to gain its freedom, and I think this is an incredibly inspiring song about women embracing their power and freedom with all their hearts. I absolutely love this song, and it gives me such a boost, and a feeling of hope. |

Definitely leaving a relationship. The lyrics for this song are rather simple; I think they just needed something to sing to the otherwise cool riffs. The highlight of this song for me is the primal "RRRRAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH" that Joey roars right before the guitar solo, like the Leo that he is. |

This has always been one of my fave tracks by Europe, such a sadly beautiful and emotional song. I think this is about a man who has lived much of his life in isolation, possibly due to a mental disorder or a severe physical deformity (I imagine him as a burn victim). Although this man is highly intelligent and has a lot of potential, he continues to isolate and has likely suffered a great deal from depression. A tortured soul who has given up on the world. |

| Europe – Danger On The Track Lyrics

I think this song is possibly about a musician going on tour who has a feeling that someone else is just waiting for him to leave to make a move, and I also get the impression that the girlfriend is finding this other person a little too charming. |

| Europe – Dance The Night Away Lyrics

I think this song is just about a night out at the clubs, flirting and making the most of a fun night out. You know, that one person across the room you've been eyeing and smiling at all night, like a big game? Just a fun, light song that I usually skip when I listen to Wings of Tomorrow, to be quite honest. |

| Europe – Children Of This Time Lyrics

This song means that the youth of today have the power to make whatever they want of their lives, and it also suggests respecting the changing roles that women play in the 20th century (this was written in the early 80s). There are lots of new challenges and opportunities, but the important core values will always be there. |

This is Joey Tempest the storyteller at his best. He seems to find things that he reads or sees in real life and turn them into lyrics. Reading the band's tour diary makes this very clear to me. Quite a gift, and many people claim this as their fave Europe song. |

| Europe – Carrie Lyrics

Honestly, this song was more of a pre-teen, school dance sort of thing for me. Now, I don't listen to this song at all, except for occasionally playing the intro on my keyboard.
I've always thought that this song was written with Joey's long-time girlfriend at that time, Elizabeth. Sounded like he knew it was coming to an end, with the band's sudden success. They did break up a few years later. |

| Europe – Bad Blood Lyrics

I think that this song symbolizes how the band felt when they were living in North America in the early 90s, and the 24/7 party lifestyle in L.A. I think it's also hinting at how aggressive the North American female can be when it comes to hot musicians. |

Oh yeah...who hasn't been in the pink cloud phase of a new relationship and not been able to relate to this one? You know, when you just can't get your mind, eyes, or hands off each other long enough to have an independent thought? Yep, there now myself.
And very catchy with the "Na na...nuh nuh na na...nuh nuh na nananana na nuh nuh..." |

| Europe – 'Til My Heart Beats Down Your Door Lyrics
| 20 years ago
|
This song reminds me of two people I fell too hard and too fast for, even though they were emotionally unavailable. Four years of desperation and on again/off again in each case.
Musically, this is one of my fave tracks off the album, and it's delivered with such angst from Joey Tempest that the lyrics pack a real punch. Problem is, nobody in Europe wrote the lyrics for this one; it was written by producer Beau Hill's wife, Fiona, and a few other collaborators.
Oh well, a great song is a great song, and the band clearly recognizes that as well. |
