the first verse is about the government trying to keep the deaths of miners out of the press and him not understanding why so he has a drink to look at it from a different angle, the second verse is about the carbon in the air that will make the people sick and die so hes going to give up and go on strike, the chorus basically meand give the police 2 fingers, "and bleed this skyline dry" means they want to stop the blood being spilt over the carbon in the mines. "so you want to hold me up and break me down" means how the police want the miners to riot so they can beat them up, "i dont care for your sweet scent" is how much money the mines were paying the people who didnt strike "and the way you want me more than i want you" means the mines are begging them to come back but he's not giving in to them "your history is mine" is telling us that he thinks they are going to win over the mines and the bosses are going to be publically humiliated. |
