Somewhere Lyrics

Lost in the darkness, hoping for a sign
Instead there is only silence
Can”t you hear my scream?
Never stop hoping
Need to know where you are
But one thing is for sure
You’re always in my heart

Chorus:
I’ll find you somewhere
I’ll keep on trying until my dying day
I just need to know whatever has happened
The truth will free my soul

Lost in the darkness, try to find your way home
I want to embrace you and never let you go
Almost hope you’re in heaven so no one can hurt your soul
Living in agony cause I just do not know
Where you are

Repeat chorus

Wherever you are, I won’t stop searching
Whatever it takes, I need to know

Repeat chorus

in my opinion this song is sung from a mothers point of view and her child has either been taken or has run away, i really take my whole meaning of this song from the one passage "Lost in the darkness, try to find your way home I want to embrace you and never let you go Almost hope you’re in heaven so no one can hurt your soul Living in agony cause I just do not know Where you are"

its just sooo sad

there is something about this song...i personally think its about searching for love or a loved one.

Every time I hear this I feel like crying. As a pagan, I love the general spirtuality that infuses this without excluding anyone. Whenever I need a good cry, this is the first song I come to. Beautiful. Sharon's voice is angelic.

I can interpret two meanings here: the one some of you mentioned about a mother looking for her lost child is one I had not thought of but I think it is rather believable, because the voice of the "character" Sharon sings is sort of protective.

The other meaning is the one that the hopeless romantic in me got. I had an experience in which I met someone whom I began to love immediately, like I have never felt about someone...but we were both shy to ask for a number, an address or an e-mail. It's been almost three years and i haven't seen him again. I want to believe I got over him but it is still strange that I that think of him very often...maybe the song can mean something similar, but I do go more for the lost child theory, it is actually more close to the lyrics...but i'm such a loser, haha...

i always had this idea it was about a loved one who has gone missing and she has no idea whats happened to them.

I never thought I would find a band with a better singer than Evanescence. Its a matter of taste, but I prefer Sharon's voice to Amy's.

As for the song, I would almost say it parallels the Cold song Rain Song. Both songs seeking the answer to what happened to the loved one its about.

Rather than dealing with someone missing in real life, I think this song has to do with the afterlife. It's tearing her apart wondering where a certain loved one is, and she's hoping for a sign that he/she is still around in spirit.

I don't believe the Netherlands is a very religious place, and I'm not sure of the lyricist's religion. The line "Almost hope you're in heaven so no one can hurt your soul" makes me think that she doesn't believe in a 'literal' heaven, but almost hopes it's true just so she knows that her deceased loved one is ok. The line at the end "Whatever it takes, I need to know" makes me think that that she's on the verge of killing herself just to find out where this person's soul is.

I can relate to this song a lot, one of my best friends died a while ago. I have an agnostic kind of view about spirits and afterlife, and after she died I kept finding myself wondering if her spirit still lived, and where it was if it did... And this song sums up how I felt just about perfectly. I highly doubt the Christian view of god/afterlife is true but I kept wishing that it were, so that I knew she'd be okay. "Almost hope you're in heaven so no one can hurt your soul" Just my take on it.

It's about needing something, anything to help you.

I feel it is about two people seperated, and neither knows if the other is still alive. They hope for the ebst about eachother, but they are in agony because they really do not know if the other is okay or not.
