Fairly sure alternate version of this song is on the "Blood Orgy!!!" EP under the title 'Little Red Coupe'. But it's late and I'm tired and I don't know shit. |

Am I allowed to feel surprised that there are no comments to this song yet? Simply effin' gorgeous; I tend to go into a sort of trance everytime it comes on the stereo or ol' headphones.
Delicately tragic...I'll just say that and skip the literal interpretation, whatever it may be. |

Right you are, fivedollarstory. Spadina, St. George, Bay and Yonge are all stops along the luxurious Toronto Transit System.
You know, I never thought a song about the dirty subway system in T.O. could be so damn charming or romantic...but there you go. Musicians make miracles. |

| The Hidden Cameras – Lollipop Lyrics
|
Not so much a meaning as a memory: so, it's an utterly gross day. An unfortunate break-up the day before, and the sky is a horrible grey overcast. A third of the way into their show, the Hidden Cameras take out bags of lollipops and throw them out to the first few rows of the audience before going into the song above.
Goddamn that orange lollipop made everything better. |

Yeah, I was just about to add a comment regarding the rapture that is the Owen Pallett cover...but looks like the chap(/lady) above beat me to it. |

Sexiest Bowie song perhaps ever. Which - through common logic - must result in *the* sexiest song. Ever. |

| Godspeed You! Black Emperor – Static Lyrics

This comment may be a little late, but I believe the comment above refers to another song on the album, "Antennas To Heaven."
Anyway, this could very well be my favourite track on "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like..." The prophetic speach given above with the strings in the background, followed by the very deliberate, yet increasingly intense strings...this is what I truly think Apocolypse will sound like, people.
(I'm also far too sleep-deprived for my own good and I have little idea of what I'm talking about. Ignore me, please.) |

Although these interpretations are interesting...I can't say I care too much. All I know is that always after I hear this song, I have a strong urge for Caleb Followill to just TAKE ME. |

| Cuff the Duke – There Was A Time Lyrics
| 20 years ago
|
Appearatly, this song is not based on any experiences of any of the members of Cuff the Duke. None of them are gay or had to come out...I read they penned this song to emphasize with some of their potential listeners who might happen to be gay.
Or something like that.
Was this comment worthy? Probably not. |

God, I love this song so much! The beat gets stuck in my head all the time, Nelson's voice is so powerful and sexxxxy, and I have a thing for 3D's little rap, which works with Nelson's part so well. Talk to my friends about me spontaneously chanting "I was looking back to see if you were looking back at me to see me looking back at you." |

| Beth Orton – Don't Wanna Know 'bout Evil Lyrics
| 20 years ago
|
Why oh why are there no comments yet? To me, this is a gorgeous and, frankly, breathtaking cover of the old John Martyn song. Orton's beautiful vocals weave perfectly with the lyrics and the instumentals, and the backup singer comes in at just the right time...it's magic....
But if none of you care enough about magic to leave a measly comment, that's just fine with me. Screw it. >:[
(Please excuse this comment, the author is tired and cranky and will be sent to bed right now. Promise.) |

I'm wondering, from the last verse, whether he's refering to many different women as his subject, or to women in general? To fantasies?
"She's all right...touching my body": a prostitute? "She's all right...on my computer": pornography? "She's all right...selling me watches": a model?
"She's all right...ring on my finger": a wife? a partner? |

God, I love this song. Still trying to figure out what this song means - I gather the narrator adores his subject, but that's it so far - but it sounds good anyway. My friend argues that "poignant" should be changed to "funky," but she has yet to explain why. I'm so sorry...I'm rambling. |

| The Vaselines – Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam Lyrics

This song has always represented religious disillusionment for me, someone deciding that they want to turn their back on who used to be their "lord" and "saviour," deciding they aren't one of his followers, or "sunbeams," and deciding they no longer want to dedicate their life, or death to Him. Anyway, I'm talking out my ass again... |

| Secret Machines – You Are Chains Lyrics

The first time I heard this song, I immediatly thought of the ancient Greek legend of the princess Andromeda. Her parents had offended Poseidon and in return they had to sacrifice her to a...sea monster? (sorry, it's late and the details are fuzzy) Anywya, she was chained to a large rock near the sea; she was later saved by Perseus, a Greek hero, who flew upon Pegasus. Well, that's just my superficial impression of a few of the lyrics. |

Buah ha...I just about pissed myself when I heard this cover. The Joe Jackson part's alright, but Shatner's spoken word style fits in...interestingly...with the Pulp classic. His vocal style is quite different than Jarvis Cocker, I'll say that much, and it brings quite a different feeling to the lyrics. |

"On Saturday I was an angel shining fair; you shone louder, longer; you put my shine to shame, put me to shame now..." Everytime I put on this song I'm so close to crying. It's probably one of the most lovely, truly sad songs I know. |

I first heard this song at 5:00 in the morning...in the middle of winter...and it fit perfectly. Her voice brings chills; the entire song gives off such a cold feeling. Love the verse "You could smell it, so you left me on my own, to complete the mission, now I'm leaving it all behind..." |

Oooh...this song sends shivers up my spine! I listened to it a few days ago about twenty times on repeat...besides the powerful lyrics, she sings it so convincingly: the anger, the fustration, the confusion...or maybe I'm just talking out my ass. Anyone? |
