Mark Schultz – letters from war Lyrics 19 years ago
I love the twist this song takes on the view of war. It is great! I think of my mom everytime I hear this song. I am serving in the Air Force and couldn't be more proud. It is people like my mom that I serve for.

Toby Keith – American Soldier Lyrics 19 years ago
bad_obsession....I may not agree with you on everything you say, but thank you so much for realizing that it is not the troops that decide when we go to war. We only do what we are told. I don't believe that I serve because I have been fed a bunch of propaganda. Rather, I chose to serve because I felt I needed to pay my respects to my family members that served before me and all of the men and women that served before me. Believe me, the troops probably want to stay out of war more than anyone. But when our elected officials decide it is time for us to do our job, we must do it. Thank you for realizing this. There are too many people out there that refuse to understand this.....

Alan Jackson – Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning) Lyrics 19 years ago
"...it's a huge generalisation of the feelings of people affected by the attacks."

This song is most definitely not a generalization of the feelings of people affected by the attacks. Alan Jackson wrote a song that some people can relate to. Not once in it does he say this is how the world felt, this is how all felt, no one felt any different. He simply sings a song and many are able to connect to it. In no way is he saying that everyone felt this way. And you're right, I'm sure Alan Jackson does know that people will pay money to hear this song out of sympathy for the victims. And I am sure that is why he donates nearly all of the profits from this song to helping the victims. Silverdew...Maybe YOU should think next time before you type.

Trace Adkins – Arlington Lyrics 19 years ago
When I heard this song, it sealed my decision to attend the United States Air Force Academy. It made me think of all of the men and women that had served before me. To not return that service out of respect for them would be selfish of me. It's my duty to serve my country. I can only dream of being considered deserving enough to be laid to rest among the men and women that lay peacefully in Arlington....

Michael Bublé – Home Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is amazing....I am in high school and I dated a girl for eight months that I fell head over heels in love with her. She ended up breaking my heart, but I still can't seem to get over her and love her just as much as the day I realized I loved her. I am headed to the United States Air Force Academy in four months and I am SOOO worried that she seriously could be the one for me and I may lose any chance I have left of getting back together with her. I pray and pray and pray that if she really is the one, that God will let our paths meet again in the future and under the right circumstances where we could be in love as we were before.
I am planning on handing this girl a copy of this song the day I leave her for what could possibly be forever. I hope she will realize someday that she loves me and misses me as much as I do her. I know I am going to want to be with her everyday until the day that I meet someone like her or better (if that day comes) There's always hope right? I'll continue to hope.........

Alan Jackson – Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning) Lyrics 20 years ago
For any of you who feel that this song is wrong, stupid, or that Alan Jackson is just capitalizing off of it.....I respect your opinions but I want you to look at the entire picture. Many people were not affected by 9/11 like others were. True it is that some were more closely connected to the tragedies than others, but that does not mean we should disrespect those people. That day in September is the only attack on America since Pearl Harbor. It is an event that should be looked upon with great respect...Respect for the lives lost, the lives saved, the people who worked to save lives that day, and the people who are working to save lives and our freedom today. To say that the attacks on 9/11 were not religiously motivated could possibly be true but it also may not be. We may never know for certain. As for Alan Jackson's song....It is a beautiful tribute to those people affected by 9/11. So many people took the tragedy in different ways. Alan is trying to put all of those different emotions into perspective. Who knows...maybe someone did lay down at night and think about tomorrow. Or maybe they went and bought a gun. Who is to say that it didn't happen. In my opinion, it is far more ignorant to put a person down for writing about emotions that another person felt on such a day than it is to to actually write the song. And it is true that Alan Jackson donates a LARGE portion of his profits to memorials and funds for people affected by 9/11. I respect the opinions of each and every one of you on here, but please have some understanding and respect for those possibly affected greater than you on September 11, 2001. Thank You.
