So I obviously didn't read through all of these posts. Nor did I search for the deeper meaning and analyze all the lyrics. But my initial instinct and my own personal interpretation of the "are we human or are we dancer" line is that being human= being normal, being reserved, being nervous and like, not showing our true selves kinda thing. Being dancer is, well...dancing, being outgoing, showing our emotions, just kinda rocking out and not caring what anyone thinks. its kinda like going beyond being plain "human" but a whole other element to our being.
im not trying to be "technical" or even right, I just see it that way. |

ok i downloaded this song after i heard that people who like the killers will like franz ferdinand, and me being a huge killers fan, i thought i'll probably like these guys.the song was good, i like it very much.but i noticed something that i found a little awkward..they sound just like the beatles in this song!!!!omg i was so shocked they sounded so alike!!i know this has nothing to do witht the song meaning but does anyone agree that they sound like the beatles in this song? |

its called yellow because yellow is the colour representing happiness, and he is happy when he is with the person in the song. the colour yellow make me think of beaming with joy, just glowing with happiness..this song is so beautiful.the line 'for you i'd bleed myself dry' really has an impression on me.its a song about true love. i also love the first verse its so beautiful |

its hard to get through this song without crying or at least wanting to cry.its so sad.i dont think i have ever heard a song with such sad lyrics, and i know lots of sad songs that have made me at least want to cry.by far one of the saddest songs.i think its about either a boy or man who was in an accident that left him in basically a vegetable state.hes only alive because of the life support and he just sits there and stares all day.mary apperson who i think is the she in the song is probably the only one who wants to keep him "alive" but everyone else wonders why they dont just pull the plug.this song is so sad.and my name is adriana, not adrian but pretty close..just the female version..so sad |

reading the lyrics again im begining to think that this song is a look back on a previous relationship he had.the first verse is taking place right now and the second is him thinking of when he first met the girl and the time she left him.in the first verse hes saying how hes going to go get her back and everything will be alright after they r back together.such a beautiful song.Brandon is brilliant. |

yeah this song is from the mothers perspective.he sent out an apology to the parents because i think they took it as an offense.they felt like he had no idea how they felt about losing there child.Brandon said that he knows he could never imagine the pain Jodi's family went through, and although the song is based on Jodi's death in particular, its about all missing people and what their families must be going through.Brandon is amazing how he can write such great songs about just about anything |

Brandon himself said that he was writing this song in a mans perspective..but it wasnt necissarily his. he writes his music to be other peoples storys for them to interpret for themself.he is not anyway gay or bi.it makes me mad when people say that..cus even if it were true i'd probably refuse to believe it.either way he is married so that tells everyone who thought he was gay or bi that no he isnt and u should stop thinking that.i think hes trying to relate to a lot of different people in his music..and theres nothing wrong with that. |

Judging by the video, i get the impression that Brandons charactor is dating a prostitute.he knows that shes always with other men and he cant stand to look.i get this idea because despite the fact shes always with other men in the video, she always goes back to him and he doesnt do anything knowing that she has been with other men.hes jealous that shes always with other men and he just cant accept the fact of what she does and wants to move on even thought he still loves her.the line "but its just the price i pay" means that jealousy is the price he pays for being with a prostitute.thats justan idea i got from the video.im probably way off. |

i went on the website suggested by Kia. I have to say i disagree with the writer says, because it something i cant conceptualize to be true.the writer gives us the idea that the whole album is about Andy and the narrator, which would be Brandon.it says how each of the songs are a continuing story of Brandon and Andy's relationship..each song is about them too rather then Brandon and a woman.It also says that Jenny was not a cheating girlfriend of the narrators but she was Andy's girlfriend and both Andy and the narrator participate in her murder.I wouldn't think a married man(he wasnt married when the album was written but i believe he was still going out with what is now his wife)would make himself seem as if he were gay through the whole album, and Brandon has said he is 100% straight.why people think they're gay i really don't know.if its because of what they wear..designer clothes, well thats their style so excuse them..if its because they tend to wear obvious makeup in their videos..well most bands do..(uh..Green Day for example?) these are a couple of reasons people have said they are "girly" guys..i completly disagree. |

this song is so amazing. i think it means that when you were young and dint no mcuh about the world you would say live and let live because thats all you wanted to do cus life was great. when you got older and the world sdtarted to change it would often dissapoint people about some of the horrible things that would happen.so now you would say live and let die..your living your life(doing your job) and you have to live it well, give the other guy hell meaning do what you have to, to get to where you want to go, but when its time dont be dissapointed that it will come to an end, u've lived your life to the best and now it is time to die. |

my interpretation of the song is:this song is about a guy grieving of the death of a person close to him.i am guessing its his girlfriend, in the music video hes the only one not dancing..but then again he is singing too so.everyother pesron there had a girlfriend or wife with them but he didnt.the song is so sad..i love it so much though.the could i should i suggests if he should kill himself so that he can be with whoever died in the afterlife.he cant seem to live without this person, her smiles are gonna haunt him and he cant stand that he never got to hear all the things she couldve told him..maybe she had been lying to him and he never got to find ou the truth.the first verse suggests that he cant forget her and if he were to die at least he'd be with her.when he says she could try i think he means that her ghost could try to contact him or something..or she could give him a sign that shes alright..that kinda seems far fetch'd but thats what i think when he says that.the second verse gives me the idea that she was unhappy with her life...

this makes me think that maybe the girl felt she was alone and hes comforting her as shes dying in his arms that u'll never be alone cus he will always be with her..but thats obviously not how he feels cus hes saying that shes never coming home and that they will never be together unless he were to die too.the chorus is saying that in his last moment of life she still wont be there, but he would be reuniting with her.i think he may have wanted her to appear as hes dying and welcome him to the afterlife as he dies.this is just my opinion on the song..some thing are kinda weird but thats just what i thought. |

in this song he tells the cop that he has no motive for this crime..but we all know that something happened.they had a fight in the promenade out in the rain, so they were fighting already..probably about her cheating which u would get the idea from the line She said she loved me, but she had somewhere to go.i think even though he killed her that he still loves her and he regrets it..it doesnt seem like the police found out it was him..he tells them he has no motive for this crime, jenny was a friend of mine.i love this song..one of the best on the album.brandon is a really amazing songwriter. |

first off i absolutly love this song and just recently became a fan of MCR.Gerard has incredible vocal and lyrical abilities..and i think he looks so much better with short hair like in this video whereas in his other videos hes got long hair.second, lots of people think the she might be his mother or sister or grandmother..i never knew all those people so close to him had died but anyways..in the music video theres couples dancing, which gives me the impression that its about a girlfriend..also cus of the fact that hes got no one there too dance with..(not that he could cus hes singing but, there could be someone there just to accompany him to the dance) the whole army aspect i dont really see how it fits with the song..i'd think if hes in the army he'd be the one who dies and his girlfriend would be grieving..but maybe he joined the army so there would be a chance of him dying and being reunited with his girlfriend..or whoever the dying person may be. this probably sounds weird its just something i thought may be an interpretation more so of the music video then of the song.i absolutly love this song though it makes me want to cry..i usually just tear up..all the pain..it so amazing when people can write songs that can be so empowering over people like me even though i havent shared these experiences. |

i agree with madigral about the fangirling, even though i have done it..usually i state what the song means and then add how brandon flowers is so amazing and attractive but anywho...i agree with the meanings people have posted, i also think it may be about breaking out and not caring what people think..its just indie rock n roll and thats all that matters, thats just the first impression i got on it, but it may be a bit too obvious for brandons usaual lyrical tendency to make the meaning more in depth as lots of you have posted more meaningful interpretations.thats just what i have to say!The Killers absolutly rock..but considering Brandon is the vocalist as well as he writes the songs..surly the band helps him at times..but anyways he just so talented!!!!and attractive too |

i think June Star 99 has a great point, only making one mistake that i noticed, Midnight Show is not the story of brandons charactor killing the girl, but disposing of her..the actual killing is supposed to be told on leave the bouton on the shelf which is too be on their new album.I absolutly love the music video to this song..especially the shower scene..i hate to say it but im probably another girl infatuated with brandon...if only he weren't so talented and good looking, or my term for hot.i don't like to use that word but i think its called for in this case.Brandon is so amazing..the songwriting of this song is mesmerizing just as all the other songs on hot fuss. |

'Cause Andy, you're a star" to me, means that the charactor brandon is playing hopes the girl is not his world because he believes Andy can do better things in his life then if he were to decide to settle down with this girl and say get married or something.brandons charactor doesnt want him to do that because he feels Andy is a star and could take the path of showing the world how good he is at what seems to be an athletic talent,rather then giving that up for some girl.That's just what i thought about that line which most people saw as a homosexual reference.BRANDON CANT BE GAY OR BI!! |

I absolutly love this song.i wanted to cry when i first heard it.its about her cousin Brenda dying.i heard somewhere that she died from suicide,and the line "And if you know the way she felt inside She's flying where she should"implys that it was from suicide.This song is so beautiful,one of my fave songs ever.Chantal wrote this one on the plane to Brenda's funeral,such a beautiful result from such a sad event. |

i cant believe this, yes the beatles EXPERIMENTED with drugs, they werent addicts but as all rock stars do they tried it,maybe used it when they were feeling sad or whatever but y is there always 1 person who looks so deeply in the song to find that it is drug related? why is everything the beatles rite drug related..this is a simple song about NOTHING ok..the beatles may have writtn a song or 2 on LSD,but that doesnt mean all of their songs have some hidden meaning that its about LSD.u ppl are soo judgemental!!u just cant handle the fact that such a great band tried drugs and now u take every chance u get to accuse them of writing about acid!!if u were a true fan you wouldnt be making them out to be addicts which they rn't! |
