| The White Stripes – De Ballit of de Boll Weevil Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| My bad.. it was first done by Lead Belly then Tex Ritter covered it later. My apologies. Wow, I always heard Tex Ritter, now I'm gonna have to go listen to the first version for kicks. lol | |
| The White Stripes – De Ballit of de Boll Weevil Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This song was by Tex Ritter (John Ritter's dad, John Ritter was on Three's Company). My dad (who is actually 46 years older than me, I'm 21 right now), has this vinyl, and I used to listen to it as a kid. He's from the hills of West Virginia lol It's one of those things that like your dad or grandpa would share with their kid or grandkid. This song is very close to my heart (haha I knew all the words as a kid. The boll weevil really was a problem back in the day, and that's what the son is about. The boll weevil is a little insect that destroyed cotton crops. When I found out the White Stripes did a cover, I was just about flipped out. It's awesome. Tex Ritter also did a song called "Rye Whiskey" that was rather entertaining. |

Or maybe he just wants them to be suicide lovers together after.. .run away from this battle ...and go crazy and stuff.. I'm just guessing .. The song has a nice style. They're never the same. They are but they're not. Coheed is incredible. |

Oh ya.. and Newo is like.. wtf are you smoking Claudio? She's saying "There's just no time for this" like ... you're being silly. |

I see Claudio.. with his army of Irobots... Newo by his side. Him going crazy. And deciding... what the hell I'm just gonna blow everyone up and then I want Newo to kill me because she cheated on me before and I'm in a suicidal mood.. LOL |

As all of you should know, pertaining to alternative/punk/rock etc videos, the music video does not always reflect the original meaning of the song. Ex: Coheed and Cambria, Favor House Atlantic: Used several clips about individual phrases in the song (but was filmed to make fun of 80's pop culture), when all of the band's lyrics are based around a sci-fi trilogy. Another example, Greenday's "Wake me up before Sept ends" was originally written about the death of a loved one, and then ended up being filmed in respect to the soldiers in the war. This caused many people to assume the lyrics were meant originally in reference to the war. The videos job is to provide a beautiful visual accompaniment for the song, not always to explain it. |

I think this is the ultimate hippie song. Ya it's definately about breaking away from reality. I think it's about a snowman maker that's just like come chill out down here in December-land. The lines "She exhales vanilla lace I barely dreamt her yesterday" mean that he made his own snowgirl to love, or possibly just turned her into a snowman and put her in chill-mode so they could both be hippies together. lol And "Read the lines in the mirror through the lipstick trace "Por siempre," she said, "It seems you're somewhere far away" To his face" Por Siempre obviously means "Forever", she says he seems far away but he's right there all along. "He" is broken away from reality. Or maybe the man she was with, she no longer is a relating to. Kinda like a family that is broken up and one decides to go into lala land. Overall, I think it's about a man that turned into a snow man to break away from reality, and made everyone that would come to be snowpeople with him. "He bit my lip and drank my war from years before" it's just kinda like, biting a lip and drinking war out is like releasing all the stress and just getting away from it all.. It's simple. Just uses metaphors to create a story-like setting. but it's just a common everyday issue of getting away from reality for a little bit. |

Ok i know... triple post, but ths song infers that they flew to CA. In another song from an earlier album, "Rock Star Land" , Christmas break of ninety eight just flipped me upside down One coast out to the other following the sound Headed west to get the best of what we all knew then One ocean to another waves come crashing down Carrying just me and Stephanie she held my hand Told me why I was Blazing down that highway on my way to Rock Star Land It infers that he was with his parents as a child in a car. Ok I'm done now. |

I know this is so after the fact but I think... the first four lines. Left the ground In black and white and When the plane went down the colors all around kinda mean, at first, they left FL and thought of it very black and white, dull and depressing. When they got to LA it was like the Wizard of Oz or something. Little botox munchkins running around and Dr. 90210 running around with a broomstick in his hand. haha |

[[I don't see how anyone has talked about or even mentioned the importance and meaning of the suitcase in the video. Just to begin with, there is a relation with Ocean Avenue's video, because the girl from that one is on this one too. Also, the suitcase appears again on this one without revealing its true content. And lastly, one thing that has been driving me crazy since I saw this video, what the fuck has the white animal sign on the suitcase to do with Brand New's sic transit gloria video ?!!??!? It appears on the three of them, Sic Transit Gloria... first, then Ocean Avenue and now Rough Landing, Holly. I just couldn't get it out of my head. Anyone has the answer or any theory about it? Please ! ]] Maybe because this site is called "Songmeanings.net" instead of "Videomeanings.net" And why do people get so damn off topic lmao I wanna see Big Fish just because of the song "How I Go". I'm getting a vibe that Yellowcard is anti-Bush lol. "Two weeks from Twenty" and Ryan duo'ed with Natalie Maines (Outspoken Anti-Bush Activist) of the Dixie Chicks for "How I Go". Well, more power to them, I can't stand him either. YELLOWCARD IS FREAKING AWESOME I CAN'T EVEN STAND IT. ... ok I'm done o.o |

A_Total_Basketcase: I think it's about getting stuck in the feeling of a moment... but I noticed the lead singer really sounds like Billie Joe... I wish I could sound like that... You've GOT to be kidding. With all due respect (Greenday is/was good and all but) Ryan doesn't have a fruit loop up his nose, dear. His pitch is much higher. |

tleise32: This Song Proves one thing, It Proves that every band after their played on mtv, follows up their album with songs that just simply string words together with a catchy tune. I dont think this song has ANY meaning beyond face value. Seems to be a possible lame attempt to reach more 16 year old TRL viewers. Dont get me Wrong, i love YC. They've been my favorite band for Years! But just like Dashboard they seem to have gone slowly from singing meaningful songs about real issues to singing songs that "the public would like" . I hope to be proved wrong, i really do. ---- Before making a stereotypical statement about what bands tend to do, you should know or at least have some coherent clue what a band is about or what their theme is. You're inability to make meaning of the lyrics is no excuse to disregard a song as "simply string[ing] words together with a catchy tune". Yellowcard's recurring theme is homesickness and trying to prove that LA is evil and guilded. "Stop, turn, take a look around, at all of the lights and sounds, let them bring you in.. Slow, burn, let it all fade out and pull the curtain down, wonder where you've been.." In other words: LA is a Monet. |

(Quoted)Krissy 04: Actually it's not about a girl in particular...they said it before many times...none of the songs on the album were really written about a certain someone..the 'her' he is talking about is holly as in hollywood... Yup, most of their songs that I know of, even from the EP (Underdog), have been about Hollywood and California, in general. They talk alot about being homesick after heading off to LA to make it big. This seems ironic at first liston, seeing as they're from Jacksonville. Songs mentioning the above or mentioning going to CA: Rockstar Land, Back Home, Big Apple Heartbreak, City of Devils, Hollywood Died, Lights and Sounds, Ocean Avenue, their all about being homesick in California, and use characterization for that point. This song is amazing, although the vocal-less (sorry, I'm not too good with music terms) part seems much too rock and annoyingly similar to what I hear on alternative radio over and over every day. Nevertheless, it's an amazing song, a little like Gifts and Curses. Awesome. |

| I wasn't completely all their for Ocean Avenue (honestly, the repetetive theme is about as annoying as techno), in relation to their other albums, but this was the best on the album at least. When I first listened to it, it gave me chills. Something about it. | |

Rimzilwave... lmao he does that in every concert. Si si, this is my second favorite, to Underdog. It retains Yellowcards trademark pop-punk, which is very respectable. |

Yellowcarded - You should be shot and banned from this site. You clearly don't even know who Yellowcard is. They change style occasionally, and this song is from one of their several older albums "One For the Kids". You worship the Ocean Avenue phase, which in my opinion, wasn't the best. Their new album is labeling them more rock, as their oldest albums were their truest of "punk". Hmmm, I pity thee. |

| Yellowcard – Radio Song Girl Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I forgot to add: A "Radio song girl" isn't a real girl. It most likely fits with their redunant theme of moving to LA to become famous, then getting homesick and realizing it wasn't as great as they had imagined. Ryan sings it as if he's being "tempted" to reach through the radio, and get to LA as if it's a kingdom and Radio Song Girl is the princess of that kingdom. |

| Coheed and Cambria – Godfather's Lollipop Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Brian, you're a fucking idiot. Shabutie has nothing to do with Coheed and Cambria Kilgannon. Advertising like this is rediculous. If people need to see this website, they will find it, as the official band site (of Co/Ca) has linked to it under links: fansites. | |

Shabutie started as a trio in 1995, they lost some and gained some. But I personally think their change was for the better. Claudio seems very hidden in Penelope. The Sci-Fi theme of Co and Ca is very intriguing. I was probably about 8 or 9 years old when Shabutie was formed.. omg I'm pretty young LOL Claudio is the best. |

| Dana Glover – Thinking Over Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This song at first seemed to mean what you all are saying pretty much. But my perspecive has changed. If she is Christian, (I'm not saying she is, I have no idea) or if her songs are in any way Christian... I could mean something that closely relates to my life. Well.. anyhow, I believe she's actually thinking over what God has said to her and everything over her whole life. She wants to know if this is the one that will evenly match her lifestyle, the one she's meant to be with divinly and equally: " "'Cause if we're to be together Then it's got to be divine." She keeps using her signifigant other as in 3rd person, which furthermore solidifies that this is a conversation with God: "He wants to marry me Carry me far away He wants to love me for life He wants to be with me Every morning I awake He wants to hold me though the night .. Only you know if he's the one for me I'm thinking over the things that You've said" I'm in a tough situation right now with my relationship, figuring out if God really approves of my decision. I really love this person, but I don't know if it's the right decision for the rest of my life. He really loves me, and is in love with me, passionately, the whole nine yards, similar to Dana's song. I find myself just asking for a sign or anything. I'm getting further into college, and it's time to start making plans for the future (it's the season lol), but I'm still looking for an answer to what's the right choice. In my situation, every word fits. Every single word without exclusion whatsoever. Well, that's my perspective. I don't know if that's what she was saying for sure, but I'll do some more research. Later :) |

Quote: Odelayih - "oh, these crazy brits come up with weird crap all the time. A love song named "Yellow"?! What happened to classic titles like "I love you", "Baby, I love you", "I love you, Baby", "You are my baby and I love you"? Crazy, bloody brits..." 0_0 you are on helium i swear. Isn't this the whole reason we pull away from "artists" such as Ashlee Simpson and Britney Spears? To hear real music. Coldplay can actually write. Be mature. |

| Chevelle – The Clincher Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
It's simple. A clincher is actually just a conclusive argument that ends all questions about any certain topic. Just something you can't get around. This is in fact... Death itself. "These are the limits when one's burried, this bodies left the soul" The body is helpless. "With nothing to gain, here's the clincher, this should be you" It's inevitable, you and everyone will die, deal with it. "Holding inside (never stand again), the phobia viewed Made cold and crippled, ending it all" The Phobia viewed is basically, just giving you the cold hard facts about the "Phobia", death. It's not that complex, it's just very descriptive, like a process. Well at least that was my take on it... |

| The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Btw, my interpretation of "Mr. Brightside" as an object is just "getting on with life, and not looking back. | |
| The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Why must we make this harder than it really is? It's just about typical jealousy, just with an added awesome video which introduces speculation on prostitute involvement. He's just the shy type that can't go out and get her. She lost interest, and he's jealous that she's moved on. Jealousy, turning saints into the sea Swimming through sick lullabies Choking on your alibis But it’s just the price I pay Destiny is calling me Open up my eager eyes ‘Cause I’m Mr Brightside Read the chorus without thinking hard and you'll see that it's about a shy, spoiled boy lacking social skills who gets mad at the slightest rejection. "Jealousy, turning saints into the sea Swimming through sick lullabies Choking on your alibis" This is refering to his disdain toward her for her lack of interest in him. He probably does see her as a whore. As many guys nowadays call a girl a whore if they are rejected. He's just been roused up a bit. "But it’s just the price I pay Destiny is calling me Open up my eager eyes ‘Cause I’m Mr Brightside" He's being sarcastic. "Well, it's just because i'm so awesome...hardee har har" And in a cliche tone "Destiny is calling me" = "I've got bigger fish to fry." "Cause I'm Mr. Brightside" = "Let's look on the brighter side of things, besides the fact that she'll never have me" Clean and clear. Tried not to make it so complex, but I get carried away >.< Just some very clever lyrics added there, nice tune, dang good song :) |

| My Chemical Romance – To The End Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I did see the same thing at first as rjthebomb... Faukner's A Rose for Emily. But I highly doubt that modern punk rockers are going to be sitting around reading classic literature lmao. Well alot of these lines are symbolic. Cyanide was used in the story of Emily but is also a common poison. And the poison used in "Emily" was actually Arsenic, not Cyanide. So many lines coorespond with that story, but so many lines are very cliche to failed or doomed marriages. I do agree that this is possibly the most awesome song on the entire cd. He's obviously gay and kills everyone or pushes them away at least: "As they are face down and bloated snap a shot with the lens." She's obviously a whore. Basically I believe this, along with most of their music is highly symbolic.. just of a doomed marriage. A relationship that should never be. He's just an outkast looking for a rich wife or someone to just *have*. He's desperate. He lives in her mansion, but the marriage basically died or will die (the tomb). She's already rich before he married her: "She got a life of her own and it shows". In my opinion, it could be the normal view of a celebrity marriage perhaps, all the mangled confusion with the defining line between marriage and sex? Hmm, that's all I got. Awesome song. ^_^ *Feels likes she's in English class* >. |
