Iron & Wine – Sodom, South Georgia Lyrics 18 years ago
After much listening and thinking I believe this song is simply about how all people, even the biggest sinners, seem to find God as they die. I think "all dead white boys" really means people who know they are about to die.

Iron & Wine – Teeth in the Grass Lyrics 18 years ago
I have tried to figure out what this song means for a LONG time. I asked my dad what he thought it meant and he agreed with Opinionhead. The bible says that after Jesus comes back after tribulation and there is heaven on earth then no animal or man will eat flesh. It says even the lion's teeth will eat the grass. But I also noticed that in Sodom, South Georgia he used "white tongues hang out" to mean tombstones...teeth in the grass could also be referring to white tombstones.

Third Eye Blind – Semi-Charmed Life Lyrics 20 years ago
I just wanted to let you non-drug users out there what the part about the "bumps" is. A bump is a small amount of the drug (meth, coke, speed..) that you do every few hours to keep you up, hence the clock reference. Oh, of course "crashing" is a refering to coming down hard. Never been sicker than doing meth for a week and then coming down, but you still think about it and want it everyday even though you know the result.

Marcy Playground – Opium Lyrics 20 years ago
I wouldn't look to much in to this song. It is totally opium induced, it doesn't have to make sense or have some wonderful meaning. Everything on opium is wonderful and doesn't have to make sense to make you happy, at least until your coming down. Just read Kubla Khan.

Ryan Adams – Tennessee Sucks Lyrics 20 years ago
I live in Nashville, the town he is talking about. I think this song is hilarious and on days when it is 95 degrees and the 100% humidity, you totally believe it. This is our #1 drinking song. Bound'ry happens to be a great place to eat and 12th and Porter was my favorite bar, but is unfortunately closed now. Sorry Ryan, we tried to save it!

Pete Yorn – Closet Lyrics 20 years ago
At first I thought this song was about a secretive gay relationship. Now I have a different take on it. I believe it is about an abusive relationship that has ended and either the man is hiding in the closet or she is in the closet hiding from him. The "I lost control" part totally sounds like the "I'm sorry, I'll never do it again" phrase that comes up in an abusive relationship. Also the fact that he keeps saying "I want you to say my name again" gives me this creepy image of this guy going through Billie's house searching for her while he is saying this appology, and she is huddled in the closet. Pete Yorn – Life On A Chain Lyrics 20 years ago
I've sat down and tried to figured out this song. "I live on a chain and you share the lat name" is definately indicating a spouse and "as a joke" seems to me that the marriage has gone bad. The rest of the chorus suggest that he was lonely (probably just out of another bad relatioship ("looking for the new thing"), she was on hand ("just around the corner from me") and he jumped into marriage too quickly. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not, but it seems reasonable.

Damien Rice – Delicate Lyrics 20 years ago
I must say the first time I heard this song I thought that "hallelujah" was a reference to jeff buckley's song by the same name. I am now a huge damien rice fan and still believe that it is refering to buckley's song and not anything religious. As for the rest of the song I believe it is about someone who thought they were in a meaningful relationship but it not went farther than secret rendevous'.
