Alright, I go for the idea that love is pretty much the same as friendship. Yeah, a girl (this song is about girls, but my review goes both ways I guess) can be physically 'hot' but there's a certain physical beauty in every girl--and not all guys see it. In addition, there is a such thing as emotional beauty, or loving the person. How does this relate to 100 Blouses? This guy either got dumped, or the girl died. (The 'drugs' could be psychiatric, perscribed by a shrink to cope with the death, for example.) Either way, he's dating many girls very quickly to find a replaement for the physical relationship that he had before. Or is this not the reason? I think, personally, given my belief in an emotional relationship, that this song uses sex as a metaphor. When the song says "I take you out to dinner, and then have sex with you, but you're still not her," the sex is a metaphor for his love for the first girl, which may include a physical relationship but is by no means limited to such. I listen to this song for comfort, recently at least. Despite the implication of sex, I think there is a greater implication on the moving on aspect of a terminated (or maybe non-existant?) relationship. |

I disagree, I like the lyrics to the song better than the music put to it--to be precise, I like the overall concept of the song rather than the lyrics. It reminds me of loving someone regardless of anything, and being away from them for any period of time---but the space lacks the ability to split the people apart. The guy also says that "I look around at what I got/ And without you, it ain't a lot/But I got every, with you, everything", showing just how deeply the guy values the girl. And I empathize, which may add a little to my definition... |

Ahh, no one has had a real review of this song yet? This song is about a guy who wants a girl to accept him for who he is, but he wishes that he was something more anyway. The basis of his love is the following line, which cleverly ends this song: "But you're my favorite thing, by far That's gotta count for something" The first verse (which, one could argue, is more than one verse) explains how the guy thinks the girl is amazing despite any flaws that he sees: "Ten pounds too much to the naked eye" "No best friend, well one but she's crazy" In reality, that ten could be twenty, but this guy doesn't care anyway. The third verse explains how the guy either sees himself or wishes to be seen: it portrays him as thinking that he can have the girl, but he doubts it inevitably. To conclude, this song is about unblind love--the guy is clearly not crushing on this girl in any way, as he sees her for what she is and loves every bit of it. |

| This is about a guy (or girl) who seems to not be able to find love, no matter what. He looks around and sees other people being torn by the undertow of love, thus making neither scenario preferable to the other. The 'holding it up with safety pins' is a reference to trying to hold together an image that's not ultimately his, but is seen as a 'required' display. | |
