I was going to give up, but she was sweet, telling me, ‘just do a tune, fuck everyone off, don’t worry about it.’ My dog died, and I was totally gutted about that. She was just like, ‘make a tune, cheer up, stay up late, make a cup of tea’. And I rang her mobile twenty minutes later and I’d made that ‘Archangel’ tune, and I was like, ‘I’ve made the tune, the tune you told me to make.’ And I heard this vocal and it doesn't say it but it sounds like ‘archangel’."
i believe he's talking about Etched Headplate, and then he ended up using the title Archangel for track 2 to make the album more synonymous and themed. |

i called the telephone number that is repeated at the end of the song. a spanish lady picks up, i say "is this the vietnamese telephone ministry?" and she shouts "NO HABLAR ANGLAIS! NO HABLAR ANGLAIS!" and hangs up. i believe when i looked it up it was a los angeles, CA number. |

well youre half right, and im wrong. after some research, i found that a friend of jamie's from san francisco had a mini-band type thing going who covered this song before xiu xiu even existed. jamie sang the vocals for this particular cover. however, not xiu xiu per say because they didnt exist yet. :) |
