This song truely makes me want to cry, even when New Order covered it, Bernard Summer sounds like he is possesed by Ian it's surreal.
Alot of the lyrics for this song appeared in earlier versions of songs, most noteably "avenues all lined with trees" from the first version of The Only Mistake. This is obviously the highest point in Ian's creative depression. |

I truely believe this could be the greatest song ever written.
This song obviously has more then one meaning. I feel that it is mostly about porn.

It could easlily be about a women who is despereate for money selling her body, losing all hope.
It seems at the same time seems to be about Ian cheating on his wife.

It seems he puts himselfs in the shoes of a women, as he does in Shes Lost Control. It seems women are more vulnreable to emotional pain than men are, Ian seems to use that alot in his writing, possibly because he felt a need to protect women. |

I really think that this song is about relizing how meaningless life is. When you think of people you used to know, be it that they died or you just lost contact with them you relize that they are individuals with thought and it becomes a extremely complex web of realitys. When you feel like this you relize how futile life is. When you think of the concept of time and the amazing scale of the universe you relize you are completely insignifigent your life is. |

This is about killing Marlene and haveing sex with her corpse. then Raymond that crazy son of a gun dumps a perfectly good sex toy into the ocean. This song is basicly a tradgedy because of that. |
