couple corrections.
1) it's rap fighters, not graff writers
2) last line:
and i'm smokin' my stress through an empty beer can, it goes one minnesota, two minnesota, three and.
i think there's more but i don't want to get up and listen to the cd to check it. |

yeah this is missing some words though.
understand. it's 1974, you can walk around a lot. i'll see you on the sea side. it's 1912. i'm a conscrpit you can only dig so much. it's 1948. i got suburban eyes. |

ugh, everyone should stop taking these lyrics so literally. it's not about a rape. the 'moon has raped me' bit is reused lyrics from the song 'the casualty.' however, this is the only song i can't really put my finger on. it doesn't seem to fit the story of the rest of the album. i dunno, maybe it's about plastic surgery or something. this is a weird one. i'ma go meditate on it or some hippy crap like that, and i'll get back to you. |

| Cursive – The Night I Lost the Will to Fight Lyrics

i'm going to put in my two cents on the song. again, looking at the whole album plot/storyline thing, this song is literally about the night sweetie loses the will to fight, told from his POV. sweetie has given up and left himself trapped/buried/imprisoned in the failed relationship, hence the 'icicles hung down like prison bars' bit. sweetie is so tired that he doesn't want to bother anymore. it's like one of those things where the situation sux but he's just too tired to try to change it.
also, chris dashboard wuss guy is horrible. listen to some good singer-songwriters... like ummm... oh! bob dylan or paul simon, jonah matranga, stuff like that. |

the funny thign about this song, and actually the whole album, is that in the lyric book, some of the words are in italics and some are normal. the italics are words spoken by pretty baby, and the normal typeface is what sweetie says. tim actually created two separate characters for the album. but i digress. this song is told almost entirely in italics. pretty baby is either saying or thinking this song, in the context of the story. the only line in the entire song that isn't in italics is:
'hey, pretty baby, are you ready for bed?'
deep stuff. so yeah. |

actually this song has something to do with something that happened in 1968... or something. i dont remember the ful story but they probably have it on thestrokes.org or one of the other myriad strokes sites out there. in fact... i'll check that right now... then i'll put up the story for all of everyone to have. |

ok, i don't think kasher has a christ complex. maybe it's just me, but looking at the whole album, concept, lyrics, etc. i got that it's an exchange between 'pretty baby' and 'sweetie.' pretty baby goes between comforting sweetie and indicting him with these martyr accusations, since he gets trashed and then goes to her for comforting. that's just my theory, though. let's see if it incites a riot. |

the first time i heard this track, i thought it was a joke or something... conor playing bouncy newwave pop? but, it has to be one of the best bright eyes tracks out there for being happy, something i'm bad at. |

another classic song from Kasher and co. random side comment: i heard good life compared to the cure in some review. how reatrded is that? on the surface, even, there are like no similarities to the cure besides the keyboards and poppy sounding stuff. not like the cure are bad or anything, but good life don't sound like them. |

that's kind of obvious that part of it's about conor... hiding in the basement where the songs write themsleves, but i think it's about tim, too. just look to the ugly organ lyrics to get the 'hating yr self deprecation' bit. |

this song makes me cry like every time i hear it. just anything Kasher writes, though, it all kills me. i listened to this with my mo nearby and she got all sad and told me to never say that. i wonder if she knows that i'm already a failure. |
