There are many inerpretations to this song I could jot down but at the end of the day we buy or download music not for the shoes the artists are in (yes it is interesting though) but the way the songs connect with us.
I connect with this song probably the same way Ben does. Benny boy and his ex Claire Dains (Juliet from Romeo and Juliet) had a long standing relationship that eventually ended (by Claire, other lyrics would suggest i.e. close I've come), I had the exact same experiance. In that situation your left to speculate on a lot of aspects of life and after going through a lot pain, you acutally find yourslef ineffably happy. All the "and that's the way I like it" parts are the bits that reflect my and possibly his love for so many things in the world. The whole catch my disease lyrics (NOTHING TO DO WITH STD's), I connect to because I see so many other in pain and over such miscellanous thing, and yet I've being through so much suffering most of them could ever imagine but I still have come to be this incredibly positive person. And because so many people are unhappy, happiness is a minority, a disease if you will. And I want people to catch it! |

My meaning for this song is what it means to me, which is as follows:
I grew up in an emotionally rough environment of social outkastation. To escape those "enimies" I found a so called sancuary in porn and sexual experimentation. This is open a door to "Lovers and whores". The true love of my life came walking around and pulled me out of that fake love "You loved me more..." "I see things clearer, it's all smoke and mirrors". She came to leave me (long story) "You broke my fucking heart but I still want you" and there is that temptaion of delving back into that old lifestyle, and when I occassionally do the aftertaste is brutal and it sucks because I resisted is for so long "Look how close I've come".
Music is the ultimate way to communicate any sweet concord of mind! |

just remeber to not concentrate so hard on the fine print that you miss the BIG PRINT! It is indeed an amazing song. < NOW HOLD ON, i could have stopped writing there but that would leave a pretty 'empty' message! actually it's not, people use words like 'amazing' so often and casually that they loose their definition! By me saying Amazing, there is a lot of depth in that, it means a lot! using words like amazing or brilliant (when meant) say what 3 hours of ellaborating would! |

I cried when I heard this. I was watching the "interview" in the DVD of 'Chasing Time - The Bedlam Sessions'. And when going through the meaning of Goodbye My Lover his was naturally blunt (no pun intended) saying it was about his girlfriend and he knew she was the one but she left him. Then when talking about the meaning behind "you're beautiful" he said it was about how he saw his ex-girlfriend on a train... with a brand new boyfriend. Imagine seeing your "one" with another person. Well I can tell you... the pain is inexpressible.

I love when people say particular songs are beautiful, as to say they are art, not just for the music but the emotions they afflict. Was doing random artist/song selection and came across what ever this is. As a 4 year coming reply, ""got no time to count my sheep today" I'm pretty sure the guy just couldn't get any sleep. The Best explanation is often the simplist. Other wise of course i agree that this is just crazy sentances mixed with PCP. |
