| Dave Matthews Band – Everybody Wake Up (Our Finest Hour Arrives) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I'm gonna try to break down the song as simply as possible: Everybody wake up If you're living with your eyes closed See the man with the bomb in his hand Everybody wake up Dave is very anti-war and is strongly against the war in Iraq. The man with the bomb in his hand is Bush. Dave's calling people to "wake up" and see what Bush is doing to our country and the rest of the world Oh baby it's not easy sometimes They build these walls ever higher and hide behind them Seems an odd way to make things right Oh I feel crazy sometimes This verse is about how he feels that America is "building [it's] walls" to defend itself instead of trying to help the rest of the world. Dave feels crazy because he thinks he's the only one who feels like this. Remember the words of the misguided fool Do unto others as you'd have them do Not an eye for an eye as the golden rule Just leaves a room full of blind men This verse is clearly about Jesus. The idea before Jesus was "eye for an eye". But Jesus came and told people to instead "do unto others as you'd have them do." He sarcastically calls Jesus a "misguided fool" because of how Jesus was thought of while he was still alive. Also, Dave feels that the people running the world are following the old rule instead of Jesus' rule. Our finest hour arrives See the pig dressed in his finest fine The believers stand behind him and smile As the day lights up with fire The pig is Bush. The believers are everyone who voted for him. The "day lighting up with fire" shows Bush bombing the rest of the world. I'm not sure about the "finest hour" part, it could either be Dave calling people to rebel against the government or it could be sarcastic talking about how the pig is rallying people into thinking that attacking other countries is their "finest hour." Overall its a good song but Dave exaggerates way too much. He clearly hates Bush so he makes him into some kind of bomb-crazy madman. |

| O.A.R. – Mr. Moon Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| basically i think that this song is about a conversation between a man and the moon. The man sees at all the turmoil happening here on earth, and when he looks at the sky, he feels like the moon is mocking him. We are "lying" because earth looks just as peaceful as any other planet when you look at it from far away. Anyways, great song and even better band. Hopefully people will start posting some more about them on here. | |
