I love Travis and this song is no acception. This song to me depicts the slow and painful breakdown of a relationship. This guy is standing in town, torn to pieces, watching but not appreciating the going-ons (sounds of the passersby, cars, etc.) He is crying the tears of a clown and abusing his mind. He wishes, like we all do, that pain like this came with a fore-warning, but, alas, that is rarely so; he laments, 'Just tell me when it's coming around'. DEEP!!! :) |

It's so good to know that there are so many people out there who appreciate this song!! It is possibly the most beautiful love song to ever have been written. Better than Gaye, the Beatles, Blige, Sinatra, better than all these peops and more. I'm falling in love at the moment at uni and that line, 'we'll share the shelter of my single bed' always brings a smile to my face!!! The Wailers in the background make such a hauntingly gorgeous sound and Bob is so unashamed about his adoration for this girl, the song is completely overwhelming. Gw'on Bobby!!!!!! |

If you listen really closely you can hear so many different layers to this song, it is truly amazing. the emotion in Marvin's voice in this song is unparalleled by any other singer i have heard in recent years. The song speaks very openly and candidly about racism, war, sexism and even ageism. Marvin, wherever you are, what you've given to this world in this song is a lot. Thank God for you!! |

God's love is a jealous sort of love, like the love of a man for his wife - he desires the undivided attention of his bride. I completely agree with you pyroheart, this song is hard to take in because it describes to a T my own unfaithfulness to God at times, his anger and disappointment and my inevitable chastisement. It's a hard message to digest, but necessary. The song itself is beautiful in arrangement, but the message is a real whopper!!!! 10 out of 10 |

I think that this song is dealing with the issue of rebellion, but also addresses the other problem we have following rebellion - a lose of identity outside of Christ.
