| Elliott Smith – A Fond Farewell Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song IS about heroine NOT suicide. There is constant textual support to prove my point. "Pitch burning on a shining sheet" The preparing of heroine. "Veins full of disappearing ink Vomiting in the kitchen sink" The effects of the heroin. This song is amazing, it is so subtle to speak its meaning. It is wonderful, the chorus is about how he's saying goodbye to the depression, his friend because it is always there with him, even when he is dancing. The way he turns on herion isnt what he's like but its a great way to get rid of depression, "a fond farewell to a friend" if you will."Good and evil matched perfect it's a great romance I can deal with some psychic pain If it'll slow down my higher brain " His good and evil matched perfect is his Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, he is depressed which is his evil and his good is his only escape, heroine. "I see you're leaving me and taking up with the enemy The cold comfort of the in-between A little less than a human being A little less than a happy high A little less than a suicide The only things that you really tried" This verse is amazing, it talks about how the effects of herione are leaving his body and helping the depression consume his body once again, the feeling in between sober and strung out where your cold but he still hasnt snapped back into depression, at which point he is not quite on the human-being level. He's no longer happy and he pokes fun at his music saying he only tries suicide and that his music is just something to keep his mind off of depression. This song is so full of images of heroine and depression that he has finally escaped. I feel so horible that he has passed on, but his music is so full of pain that I know he is where he truly wants to be. |

| Mike Doughty – Looking at the World From the Bottom of a Well Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
It sounds to me like he was smoking blunts, from cuban cigars, either by first removing the tobacco then adding weed, or using a mix of both since cuban cigars are supposedly so good. "I sought to lose that cloud that's blacking out the sun" Weed makes you phase out life, blurring vision, and if done heavily blocks out most light except for your very narrow tunnel vision. "Blacked out thoughts" Your mind does the same as your vision whilst being high, and you think of things that dont matter, but can seem quite philosophical. |

| Mike Doughty – American Car Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| It sounds like Doughty is tired of being in such a fun and easy life, he wants to know what its like to have to work hard now. It appears that he keeps finding women that suit him quite well, but in the end they leave him, and the long black american car, i dont know if this is true, but it reminds me of a hurse and how God knows exactly where you are, and even if you forgot God for most of your life, he will bring you into the light so you can make the journey towards heaven. It could just be about a woman who drives a long black american car i guess, but i invision the hurse, or a long black 60's business car like a cadilac. | |
| Moe. – Plane Crash Lyrics | 21 years ago |

MoeIsSweet...you are dumb. The majority of the song is about a fear to fly. But he mixes it up and throws in metaphors for getting High. Strap me in tie me down And roll me a bone I'm gettin' on an airplane And I'm flying home Strap me in tie me down I'm learning to fly Drivin' 'cross the country I get too fucking high "I'm getting on an airplane" symbolizing the take-off, like the first few hits of weed. Then he's flying high, "too fucking high" I mean "Oh no MOE can't smoke weed! THIS SONG CANT BE ABOUT GETTING HIGH" cuz Bonaroo never has hundreds of thousands of fans smoking weed. EVER. Learn to read more than just on the surface. UH FUCKING BUSH LOVERS |

Hot Sauce Johnson: Truck Stop Jug Hop I just wish they were still at the music making. They were truly creative and original. They had a little bit of everything. |

| Jack Johnson – Taylor Lyrics | 21 years ago |

OK we all know the song is about a few people. Taylor- a girl gone from home fell into prostituition Peter Patrick- man who has "visited" Taylor Sunny- Mrs. Patrick probably not for long since she knows about Peters visits with Taylor The part about singing is so true in the way that people like to keep the image of christian up and say they are on and take part of the religious ritualous, but their hearts aren't in the right place. You can't just say your christian and cheat on your wife like Peter did. The part about the brake lights, I think, is that Peter has been caught before and promised not to do it again, but he's pulling over to Taylor yet again. The curb is a place for him to turn. I love Jacks line "givin' what you gotta give to get a dollar bill" Its what America has come to. Jack is the perfect person to talk about that, he doesnt sing for the cold hard cash, he sings for the love of music, he doesnt even put his singing in jeopardy by putting on "shows" he has concerts in which he sits and sings. |
