I think this song is about someone thinking what would the world have been like without her. I think this girl is sitting down with a razor blade resting on her wrist, thinking whether or not to cut, whether or not to cut so deep that it becomes fatal. And whether her absence will affect the people around her, whether anyone will miss her and notice that she is no longer alive. I can really relate to this song, even though I'm not the one to sit with a razor blade in my hand, but I have wondered so many times what would life be like for others if I was no longer there, whether anyone would even notice me not being there... |

I don't know but for some reason when I first read the lyrics and heard this song, I thought of it being about a stalker. "I've spent so much time Throwing rocks at your window That I never even knocked On your front door" Admiring this person from afar, but never really had the guts to go up to them. "I walk by statues Never even made one chip But if I could leave a mark On the monument of the heart I just might lay myself down For a little more than I had" The stalker feels as if she isn't being noticed. The person she admires is like a statue to her, unaware of her presence. But she longs to make a difference, longs to want to leave some sort of an impression on her loves heart. "Wait a time To spare these lies we tell ourselves These days have come and gone But this time is sweeter than honey" I think this is the part when the stalker begins to think realistically about the situation, how she has been living in a dream world feeling that she has importance in the life of the guy she admires. The stalker goes in and out of these phases where she is off in her dream world then faces reality and comes to know it is all a lie, and how the guy doesn't really know her. But whenever she is in this dream world, it is 'sweeter than honey' Well thats my take on it....quite different from what everyone thinks. |

I agree with vehuiah, those lyrics aren't all right. It is defintely 'Plain Talking' at the beginning, but I seem to hear the chorus as "Higher Now Upper"....... And it doesn't start with 'Like stronger old stars', but with plain talking. Anyway, this song is really catchy! |
