thrdfoot, you just might be the dumbest shit i've ever heard in my life. I mean who's that immature that they just hear a song and then go out to fight?! Dude, these types of songs are only meant to psych you up in the middle of a fighting movie scene (e.g. eye of the tiger- rocky). They're not meant to pump you up so you can boost your tiny self-esteem by fighting with some random shmuck. Seriously, get a life and don't try to raise your self-esteem by bragging to the rest of us about that animalistic and immature shit. I like a good fight as much as the next guy (I'm 6" and 200 pounds), but I have more respect for myself than letting a song dictate how I act completely. |

Just a freaking awesome song. My favorite of all time without a question. It could mean absolute garbage, I wouldn't give a damn. Knowing Phish, i would believe it if I heard it means nothing. |

Seriously, if I hear one more @#$#%! vietnam comparison, I'll rip someone's head off. It has nothing to do with that. Just bcause Kubrick uses this as the ending song to FMJ doesn't mean that that was the meaning. For all the dumbasses that wanted to sound intelligent by stating that it's an nti-vietnam song, you're all a bunch of pseudo-intellectuals who don't know crap. |

What a bunch of dumbshit christians!! Yeah, it's about religion and it "raping" and taking advantage of you. But it also means it literally, as in preachers actually raping innocent unsuspecting little kids. He's definitely bad mouthing the administration of christianity in today's era. |

This is such a ripoff of their own song "clocks" and shows their originality in tune making. However, i still hold highly of Martin's lyrics. |

Why does it have to be him battling the "devil" inside of him? Ever think it was just a man and his conscience? Think about it. The last four lines seem to be pointing out that it is him himself and not some external force that's trying to control him. That's what i gather from it. Just a man and his conscience. I think that pqf1976 is probably right when he adds that it's about the psychotic mind of a killer. |

only alley really makes a lot of sense. A lot of people always seem to confuse Collective soul's music as having a christian theme just because he uses a lot of words like "salvation", and "hope" and "soul", but he seems to use those words mainly because those words just sound very poetic. |

I think he's just trying to say how much this world has changed over time and doesn't quite get the next generation's philosophy in life. He's saying how far we've come along and changed when he says "Have I got a long way to run, yeah I run" |

This is not that hard, people. It's about Raine, as a young boy whose whole "world" is comics and when Superman gets killed by doomsday he starts wondering about everything in life. He sees that nothing is certain or guaranteed in this world. Then Raine talks about how in his childhood, his parents basically forced his religion on him and tried to control his life and have him live an ordinary life even though he didn't want to be just "ordinary", thus becoming what he is now. Then he ends off the song by saying how he sees now as a grown man, that there is a g-d and he believes in him just not to the extent of catholicism beliefs (which he was raised in), but that he's the only thing that's guaranteed and that this world's a subway to the world to come. |

This one is pretty complicated to the point that I'm not sure of this, but I think it's about a guy and his "New Year Resolution's" talking to him. And then him seeing failure in not keeping those expectations (December promise you gave unto me......). |

you think too much stixx. It's a guy telling a chic or vice versa that you can sexually dominate me any way you want. I'm gonna be passive though, cause I don't really need the sex. Then "Steady here I cast my lines"- I start getting aggressive sexually, "Only to expose a weaker sense and no constraint"- only to show the way i truly feel (that I want sex just as much as you do), "Now my true self shows"- I've exposed my true colors to you. Then he says something to the effect that he still doesn't want to go too aggressive because he wants to enjoy the experience. |

It's a pretty obvious one. It's basically about a boy who believes in the lord, but even though this is the case he still feels the need for guidance in life via a mentor or priest to lead him in life and give him advise whenever he needs. And he feels that by not having one he's slowly losing his trust in what he he's doing, since he doesn't have any guidance to make him feel confident that his actions are correct. |
