I think this song references Billy's first attempt at a solo album before he had even formed the smashing pumpkins, which was called "nothing ever changes". I think it talks about how hes grown since then and how all the changes he has gone thru have led him to grow more experienced. |

I read in the pumpkins autobiography that this song was about lollapoloza. To me it talks about sheer emotional dryness, being completely drained from performing every night. The 'despite all my rage line' i think is about how he puts all his emotions into his music and makes it as personal as possible but still people just think of him two dimentionally. He can cry out on songs again and again and people will just think "aww, cute song!" and think no more about it. I suppose for that time it was pretty true. The cage has definately gotta mean the stage, quite a few bands use it, Babyshambles talk about "The cage that some men call the stage". I have no idea what the last part of the song is about tho |

This song was originally called Eva Adore, but for some reason the name was changed, never found out why.
At the time Billy wrote this song, His mother had just died AND his wife Yelena had just divorced him. This song really does reflect how this double loss affected him emotionally. The surreal imagery kinda shows how he felt in his mind. |

I think its about God or religion

Aren't all Christians in love with God, something they can't see? I heard one of their members was christian, not sure whether or not it was true.

I think its about him taking comfort in pain, maybe after going without any real pain for a while. Could have been after breaking up with his girlfriend, how he'd been happy when he was with her, but when they seperated he could feel sorry for himself again |

I read that when Billy wrote it his brother was becoming a lot more independant, and was needing a lot less help from Billy. Maybe the song is in someone linked to that, and how Billy misses being such an important part of his Brothers life. |

Clash city rockers was a take on the band the Bay City Rollers, and i think the clash wrote it to defy 'rock' bands like them, and to defy the people out their who think that they themselves are rockers because they listen to fake bands.
