| Fuel – Falls on Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |

C'mon people, stretch your imaginations just a little and come up with the answer that hasn't yet been presented! Or better yet, allow me to do it for you! Am I the only religioso on this board? Give me a break, even rock stars have religion. Surely, somebody's got to agree with me that this song's about Jesus Christ and the singer's commitment to trying to live a Godly lifestyle, which was one of Jesus' commandments before He died on the Cross. There's not an inkling of a trace of anything having to do with a girl throughout the whole song, it's all about Christian love and a Godly commitment. And the first person to poke fun at this idea or make fun of it is really gonna get their ass kicked!!!! |

I am no expert at identifying song lyrics; Stone may be singing about a man who he looked up to; perhaps a favorite musician or role model. One could easily infer from lines 11-12 that Stone (or a first-person subject) may have homosexual feelings toward this individual, but that the man already has somekind of lover in his life and Stone can't get the man from this other person. The next line of the text, "he had a different dance, he had a different song" seems to imply entire volumes about the subject of this song and certain preferences. That is my take on it. There, I have officially disgraced Stone Gossard and marked him to be, well, punished by stoning. |

| This has got to be the coolest song I have ever heard, damnit! It had just got this whole groove that make me want to get in the car, drive out to Big Bear and pick up a carton of Cheap-O-Eggs, and then take them and turn them loose all over the parking lot of that fuckin McDonald's where I used to work. | |

| What in blueblazes are these songs about, anyway? Are they supposed to Satanic messages sent in to you using subconscious transference or something like that? | |

And as for this song... I never really put too much emphasis on the meaning of the lyrics; To me, JCP was all about either Chris' own personal inner struggles and rejections of Christianity and God. If this is the case, I don't really think that Chris is performing this song in a mocking manner, but he is inwardly confused and turmoiled by the concept of religion and all it's explanations of things, which he does not fully understand and may or may not be in agreement with. Another explanation of these lyrics would have to be all of the rockers and everybody mentioned above, who are all acting like they are so helpless amidst and ocean of violently adoring fans who won't leave them alone.... Oh those poor Hollywood celebrities; How they are all so much more worse off than any homeless person... It's such a sad and tragic story. Really. Yeah, right. |

Inviltrist, you sound like someone who needs to be Saved. I am a Christian person, born and raised as such, and for me religion has not been a question of what is visible to the eyes, but rather about what is felt in the heart and not visible to the eyes. |
