| Against Me! – New Wave Lyrics

Music is music, dudes. A music label has no effect on a band's sound, especially not a band like Against Me!. Tom's got a family, I can't really speak for the other band members..., and he should be able to support them however he wants. Don't even dare blame them for being successful, you're the worst kind of jealous, fair-weather friend. I think the only people able to make reasonable judgements are the ones that began listening to them after this label switch because they're not attached to a "scene". And I'll be the first to admit that Axl Rose was my favorite album, but New Wave is splendid as well and well deserving of every fan they get for expanding their audience base. |

Tom Morello is the man. No wait, he's the opposite of The Man. This song is great and his voice really compliments everything about it. It was definitely not what I was expecting from an ex-RATM member, it was even better. |

Has anyone here realized that Jack rarely, if at all, sings in tune with anything? I don't think we should be ripping on the drummer for that. It worked for the Beatles, why can't it work here? |

#1. Does anyone know what the 14 Miles Away reference is?
#2. Suicide is for cowards. And anyone that writes to a band and tells them they prevented them from committing suicide probably wasn't going to do it anyway and is being a drama queen, looking for attention. Get fucking over it. |

For anyone that wants them, I can post the liner notes from the Demo if you all want them. I cant' remember offhand what they were and they're currently at another house right now. I can have them by the end of the day. 12/27/06 if anyone wants them. If not, I wont' ruin it for you. |

I actually do not believe this is about Salinger, I believe it is more based on Walden(I think that's his name). He wrote an essay called "Civil Disobedience". Walden, hemingway, and Emerson are all big figures in a few songs by BOTAR and SM, at least I think so. I had lots of proof and documentation but I can't really find it now. I'm kinda drowsy because I just got my wisdom teeth pulled literally this morning... sorry. |

it seems like they just kept reapeating the same music while telling us "don't know where I'm going (with this song)" all the time. then finally one of them leaned over and said to bridget "let's end this bitch" and that was it. |

We were in love, something ended it and we went on being friends. People told me I was smart, but I couldn't get anything figured out. This song changed all that for me. I agree with jhath ^ up there. |

And to all the girls from back in high school
Who actually spoke to me even though I was a fat kid and a marching band geek
It is faggot. And I don't float that way but I feel the same way about all the ladies that hung out with me in high school. Your true friends in high school are amazing people. All the drama and what-not. |

| Flogging Molly – Screaming At The Wailing Wall Lyrics

This is not just an anti bush song. It is merely telling the truth. In these trying times, people turn to all sorts of places. They try to blame the president, they try to blame God. There are so many religous symbols in this song it's incredible. My thoughts on this, from the beginning:
-once the communist now the terrorist-tells how the worlds enemy has turned from communism in the post WWII era to the terrorist in todays world.
-the gathering storm- can be seen as all the investigations and what not going on but have nothing to do with the truth
-bombed out cars-are obviously car bombs and their victims
-nameless names on the mispelled graves-are our soldiers and innocents taken by terrorism and what-not
-liberate your people siad the bunin' Bush- bush promising freedom
-growl with oil soaked teeth-the oil barons and iraq's supply
-the eagle soars the sky....-talks about how america is strong and is "above" everyone else
-as we scream at the wailing wall- the wailing wall is a very important religious symbol, especially in the end times, said to be where people will turn after the apocalypse. This also suggests that we are blaming god for all our problems and that while everyone is willing to put all this effort towards pointing fingers and spreading the blame, no one knows what to do.
Take it or leave it, that's my opinion. |
