| Ben Folds – Hiro's Song Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Hiro isn't a reference to him being a hero, it's just a common Japanese name and a more common nickname (for Hiroshi or other similar names). The only thing the name is probably referencing is the Blur song, since it would be a wild coincidence for both Blur and Ben to release songs about Yuko and Hiro. | |

| The Dresden Dolls – The Jeep Song Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I love the 80s-ish feel of this song, although it was suprisingly pop after the rest of the album. The meaning is pretty obvious, same as everyone else has said. The way the feel makes it seem like she doesn't want it to be him but does at the same time is clever. On the lyrics: Love the line gravity_is_not quoted above, and I also thought the Rolling Stones reference was cute -- "I see a red jeep and I want to paint it black" (paraphrases the Stones' "Paint It Black") The only line I don't like is the last, it's just kind of cheesy. |

I also thought it was about a hermaphrodite the first time I heard it ("half biology and half corrective surgery gone wrong," and my initial thought that Jack and Jill were boy side and girl side of her.) After a few more listens, I also thought of mother/father and multiple personalities, but I knocked out MPD because of the obvious stress on male/female. The "For my father" on the site verified the second idea for me. This is one of my favorite songs on the album, it's beautifully written, played, and sung. And I love songs with lyrics that make you think, it was fun trying to decide what it meant when I first heard it. |
