| Sublime – Doin' Time Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I'm pretty sure that the song is about heroin. "me and my girl have got this relationship" - his addiction with heroin "I love her so bad, but she treats me like shit" - referring to feeling sick from withdrawl, or strung out "Oh, take this veil from off my eyes My burning sun will one day rise So what am I gonna be doin' for a while? I guess I'll have to play it myself Show them how we come off the shelf" - could be referring to how he wants to break the addiction, but what's he going to do with all this new free time? and especially the part where he says "Evil, I've come to tell you that she's evil, Most definitely", seems pretty self explanitory if he is talking about heroin. Yeah, I definitely don't think this song is about some chick. Well, it is - but her name is Heroin. |

| Kanye West – Flashing Lights (feat. Dwele) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"Hey Mona Lisa, come home you know you can't Rome without Caesar." ...could also be referring to the fact that the Mona Lisa was painted by an Italian, Da Vinci, however, the actual painting sits in the Louvre in France... |

| Iron Maiden – The Phantom of the Opera Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| If you guys like the "running" feeling, you should check out more Maiden. Their songs sound like that frequently; it's called galloping and it's friggin' awesome! | |
| Metric – Live It Out Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love this song muchly... I agree... it's about taking risks and and doing what you want, living out your dreams rather than sitting back and doing what's easy. | |
| Tool – Right in Two Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"Father blessed them all with reason and this is what they choose?" FOR ME, this line is a bit ironic as well... "God" gave humans reason, but even with the ability to reason, they still believe that there's someone in the sky watching over them, and that these religious texts are literal truth. I don't know, but reason tells me that there's no such thing as the God we are all too familiar with. |
|
| Led Zeppelin – When the Levee Breaks Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
^^ It's not as ironic as it is just plain sad....^^ This song is magical...when I hear this song, I think to myself, "Now, THIS is music...this is the epitome of music." I don't know, but I think I could die happily if this was the only song I'd ever hear again. Just brilliant. |

| David Bowie – Let's Dance Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| When the "tremble like a flower" part comes on the second time in the song, I just love how Bowie almost yells "flow-ah!" Oh, it's so raw. A damn good tune, I say! | |
| David Bowie – Golden Years Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I kind of feel like this song is saying, "Hey, don't stress over where you've been and what you've been through, these are your golden years (your prime) so enjoy them!" I don't really know, but that's how I see it, as a positive song. Plus, this song is a killer dance song. Oh, Bowie, thank you for the wonderful music.... | |
| Depeche Mode – Enjoy The Silence Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
LuckCharm, I was just about to post that exact comment!!! Yes people, learn to spell damn it! I believe that this song has more than just the one meaning; I would say that it's about a relationship and it could also be about heroin. I think that's what makes this song so great, the lyrics are written in a way that you could interpret them in more ways than one. By the way, the Mike Shinoda remix is fantastic. The first time I heard the part where the guitars and synthesizer explode at the start of the song, I nearly peed my pants. That's what I call good music. |
|
| Depeche Mode – Never Let Me Down Again Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Now that I read the drug interpretation, it makes a lot of sense...I always thought that it was about a relationship with someone.... Has anyone heard the re-mix of this song, found on the Depeche Mode Re-mixes '81-'04 album? Oh, man is that one hell of a re-mix. In fact, that whole album is great. If you have not checked it out, I suggest that you do, you will not be disappointed. Go Depeche Mode, Go! |

| ihatepinkfloyd--> your username makes me sad.... | |
| Marilyn Manson – Junk The Magic Dragon Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Could the title be referring to heroin? I know that sometimes h is called junk... and when you smoke h, that's called chasing the dragon...but it's clear that this song is about many drugs and not limitted to heroin. | |
| Deep Purple – Highway Star Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I don't agree with what a few have said: that this song is about three things, his car, his girl, his head. I think the whole song is about the first: his car. When Gillan says "Nobody gonna' take my girl, I'm gonna' keep her to the end, Nobody gonna' have my girl, she stays close on every bend." I'm pretty sure he's still talking about his car. And then the verse about his head, and having speed inside his brain, also driving stuff. After all, the song is called Highway star. | |
| Deep Purple – Child In Time Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This is one of those ten minute songs that just fly by. I absolutely love this song. Gillan's screams are so intense...oooh....I've never heard anything like it. So good. I can listen to this song over and over again. WokCreations -->"If you've not been hit.....wait for the ricochet" basically means that even if you're not paying for it now, you will eventually - it will all come back to you. That's exactly what I thought, too. Wow. An absolutely amazing piece of music. |
|
| The Dears – Lost In The Plot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Yeah...Murray totally sounds like Morrissey in this song. It's uncanny! I love the feel of this song...it's a bit creepy and then it launches into the "Our love, don't mess with our love" part and everything feels so calm. Great tune, great tune. |
|
| The Mars Volta – Drunkship of Lanterns Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I like what i.am.harriet said about, "this song is breathtaking and it is a perfect example of how music has evolved to blur the boundaries of genre". Whenever someone asks me what kind of music the mars volta play, I'm always like, "Uh... well... I don't really know." But that's what makes them so awesome. These guys just give 'er and make the craziest, creepiest music I've ever heard. The first time I listened to this album I got such chills....There's so many times in a lot of the songs where I'll just shiver because the music is so fantastic... It's so good it makes me ill.... | |
| Hole – Plump Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I agree with what has been said about this song, but I kind of feel like the part that goes, I'm eating you, I'm overfed Your milk's in my mouth It makes me sick Now I've stumbled here Failed to make it mine They say I'm plump, but I throw up all the time I'm eating you, I'm overfed Your milk's in my mouth It makes me sick could be Frances Bean "talking". As in, she's eating her mother's breast milk. And then how she "Stumbled here" and "failed to make it mine" could be referring to when she was with the authorities. Lastly, "They say I'm plump, but I throw up all the time", babies have baby fat, and are therefore, plump, although they still throw up (spit up) all the time. I dunno', just a thought. |

Buy this car to drive to work Drive to work to pay for this car I love that lyric... so true, so true. |

| Modest Mouse – Bukowski Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
--> nbowman33 said "If that were the case then god would not have given us the gift of FREE WILL. We can do anything we want, we can choose to accept him, deny him: anything." I have a real problem with this... I know I'm digressing from the "songmeaning" but I can't leave this alone. Christians and other religious folk always say that God gave us free will. nbowman33 said that, "We can do anything we want, we can choose to accept him, deny him: anything". How great is free will if you decide to deny God? You know that you'll just go to the fiery pit of hell if you deny God. So what kind of free will is that? "oh, you can believe whatever you want, but if you believe something that I consider wrong, I'll punish you for all eternity." That's a load of bullshit if you ask me. I think this song is great, it gets stuck in my head all the time, too. But that's a good thing. |

| At the Drive-In – Pattern Against User Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
bence = is actually supposed to be "bench", like something you sit on tenticle = tentacle, Octupus' have tentacles (or do they?) Landfill = a piece of land that's used purely for the disposal of garbage I hope that helps... if not, I tried and I apologize. |

| The Smashing Pumpkins – Landslide (Fleetwood Mac cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I always thought that Stevie wrote this song about her father...my bad... I agree with all the folks that this is a spectacular cover of an already spectacular song...props to Billy and the Pumpkins for this gem |

| Sparta – Guns Of Memorial Park Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
When I went to see Incubus, Sparta opened for them (which was a complete surprise, because The Hives were supposed to be the opening act), and I was so excited to see the 'Sparta' banner on the stage, and all my friends were like "Who the hell is Sparta?". This is the song they opened their set with (and i had never heard it before, because at the time, Porcelain wasn't released yet) and they blew me away with it. It is a great song. The best part was at the end of their set, my friends were all like "We HAVE to pick up their CD when it comes out". And I told them I'd lend them Wiretap Scars for the time being. Bah! Really pointless, stream-of-consciousness babble meant to confirm how great Sparta is. |
|
| Sparta – Tensioning Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Yeah, this song is truly awesome...i'm surprised more people haven't commented on it...and i'm ashamed that i can't contribute my own interpretation, as i have no clue what this song could be about...but it's still fuckin' great | |

| Radiohead – Just Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I don't know about that, t torn, but you get an A for effort. I think a previous post by bass-ment rocker said it all when referring to what the dude says in the video: "it is important to not know what it is the man says. its like when you hear people whispering about you, you want to know what they are saying, but when they do tell you, you feel bad and wish you didnt know. They didnt have to tell you, but you "brought it on yourself" " True that. |

| Pink Floyd – Any Colour You Like Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I guess not too many people have commented on this song since there's no lyrics, but... i must say that this song is pretty brilliant, and quite a treat to listen to. I actually heard that some car dealers use "Dark Side of the Moon" to show potential customers how the car's speakers sound, and i can imagine that this song would make a pretty good "test song". I can't think of any other song that sounds like this... pretty crazy stuff |

| Pink Floyd – Time Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i read somewhere that the guys actually went into some clock shops and recorded all of the different clocks "dinging", and then overlapped the recordings in the studio. I'm pretty sure that this song is one that EVERYBODY can relate to. Goddamn, pink floyd understand music like nobody else can. |
|
| Pink Floyd – One of These Days Lyrics | 21 years ago |

| Pink Floyd – Dogs Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| well, since everything about the meaning of this song has already been said, i would just like to say that this song is really incredible. It's only one song, but there are so many different sounding parts to it, which is awesome. My favourite part of the song begins as Roger says "And when you lose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sewn...". Fucking brilliant. | |

| Incubus – Beware! Criminal Lyrics | 21 years ago |

" a butterfly under the glass you are beautiful but you're not going anywhere " i love this part... this saying could be applied to all those people we went to school with...you know? the ones who cared too much about their looks to worry about doing their work... they might look good, but their future is shot. |
