It's obviously about a past relationship of Jamie's that turned abusive. It's his harsh depiction of an unconditional love for, looks-wise, "the perfect man". Jamie bitingly comments on this fallacy through violent, death imagery and the speaker, who would die for the man if only he could touch his "fabulous muscles". |

The lyrics are incrediably ambigious - it's definately about a man's depression [life's colours are black and light black] and his inability to connect to the world [the unsuccessful joke with his son is used as an example here]. But I'm not getting how the death imagery at the end or the final line connect to it all. |

I love this song, one of the best on "Fabulous Muscles". It's basically about his obsessive, one-sided love of a bunny gamer - which I imagine to be a cute, anime girl [or possibly boy, Jamie is bi and the lyrics to mention any gender] who plays video games. |

I think it's the whole idea of the hypocritical suburban father who truly has no love for his child, but lives under the facade that he actually cares for her [asking about his daughter's health, the picture of her in his coat] because he doesn't know how else to act - society has dictated this image of fathers for him to live through. |

This is probably a stretch, but i think this song is about childhood friends drifting apart, possibly due to Jamie's or this boy's struggle to accept his own bisexuality.
"trying to not to cry in front of your older brother"
Sounds like the boy's need to prove his masculinity. The whole image of the friend walking away suggests his homophobic abandoment of Jamie. |
